this is actually so smart bc think about it. both Scherzer & Verlander come off the books in 2 years. that would free up around $90 million after the 2024 season. could grab Soto with that money if we wanted + whoever else is a free agent that offseason

im expecting us to chill on any Shohei trades this season and just wait him out after 2023, getting Koudai Sengai in the coming months would boost our chances of getting him too
