I love Burks and agree Kemba has not been it but idk if he's the long term solution at PG.
Def not but it's right move for right now imo, even bigger is the fact that Grimes will get some playing time
Burks is a taller guard that can shoot and he's a decent to good defender, Randle will probably handle most of the playmaking anyways and IQ + Obi can remain together on the bench, can't believe this wasn't something Thibs did at the last minute towards the end of the season
I wanted IQ to start in a one off situation but Burks makes sense to start a longer period of time, IQ getting there when it comes to playmaking and he can continue to learn off the bench with Rose, idk if he the long term solution but it's def possible
Did not expect to see Kemba out of the rotation. It makes sense though, and I feel like it was probably gonna happen around or after the All-Star break but damn.
But it's true what they say...size matters. Kemba just does not have that. Add on to the fact that he's been so on and off offensively, I guess it was only a matter of time before they pulled the plug on him.

They say it's only gonna be "For now" but I think we all know that means this is gonna be a permanent thing. Or if Rose needs some days to rest up then Kemba will probably be activated again. Outside of that, I think he just might be done til the playoffs.

It had to happen.
What I’m pissed is IQ not starting.

Thibs doesn't seem to wanna mess with the bench too much. If this was the compromise that had to be met in order to get Kemba out of the starting job so be it. IQ is likely gonna continue to run with the second unit mostly because him, Rose, and Obi's connections are insane. You just can't break up that bench too much unfortunately.
I do wonder if this means RJ will get more run with that unit, or do we actually see more Quentin Grimes? I'm cool with either honestly lol
They talmbout Kemba being traded to Houston for John Wall...have people forgotten about Wall's contract?

I'd be fine with John Wall as a stopgap PG if the Rockets buyout his contract. Definitely not with his current contract tho

Nobody trading for that contract lmfao

When Wall hits the market after the buyout it's gonna be wild chase for him by teams lol

He is almost the exact kinda PG that we do need. He's got size, handles, fairly high defensive IQ, and is known for his playmaking and passing. The only knock is his three point shooting since it's been below or right around the average for most of his career.
If not for that insane contract it'd be very hard to say no to a PG who averages 19pts and 9asts for their career.
so wait when did kemba f*** his knee up
It's probably always been messed up which is why he rests on back to backs. It's a degenerative kinda injury so it's only going to get worse the more he plays.

If it's a buyout situation like kemba I say why not, but like you said it'll be many teams after him. I really wonder what the long term plan is for the starting PG. Do they try to find one late in the draft? do they try to trade for a younger one? is it just groom IQ?

Even if Wall is washed, he'd be a great fit for our team for the exact reasons you mentioned. We don't need super athletic, prime John Wall. Just a guy who can pass, defend and get buckets occasionally to keep the defense honest

Deadass it's the reason why CP3 been still going hard in the league at 36 despite some injuries. That classic point guard play of defense, high IQ, and passing/playmaking. If you know how to set up and run plays you hardly have to put yourself out there, your teammates will hold you down.
He gotta fine incoming for this, but I guess this explains what the tech was on Randle. If the refs been calling the game different for Randle, and they actually said that to him, those refs need to be fired asap. One of the refs was Scott Foster so I wouldn't be surprised if it was true.
