Seems as genuine as an apology of this sort, for this kind of thing, could really be. I’d be more inclined to view it strictly as a stunt if he wasn’t clearly on a heavy dose of psych meds – there’s no way an attempt at resetting the board would ever be completely divorced from his business interests, but this is at least backed up by some action in the form of getting on medication
