I definitely feel like if the TLOU plot leaked with all cut scenes, we would probably just say "so its just a copy of The Road or 28 Days Later, whats the big deal?"
the gameplay immersion with experiencing that story for the first time was what made that game so special and I got a feeling getting to experience TLOU2 without knowing anything about it would probably have crafted a more understanding attitude towards its narrative. Unfortunately for the people who have read this story and ruined it for themselves, I doubt much will change now even if they play the game.

ND employees hate the story too
Kinda feel like I should just rip the bandage off

I hear what you're saying. Plot still sounds like major ass regardless.
If NaughtyDog manages to spin it well and pull me back into I'll be impressed and happily eat my words.

if anyone needs it the op in this breaks down everything that's confirmed and everything that could be wrong or still just speculation, there's a lot of confusion rn between what's real and what isn't

I don't usually go on there at all but it's the best thing I could find that separates all the stuff we know from the stuff we don't
yeah they're more leaks. only seen a couple more but nothing towards the end. tbh I jumped to conclusions too soon.
Plus what I lost sight of and I think a lot of ppl have is TLOU has always been Ellie's story. Just cause you play as Joel doesn't mean he is the catalyst that pushes the narrative forward.

the truth is killing Joel is probably the most logical narrative choice you could make for a sequel revolving around Ellie. His arc finished at the end of the first game and there’s really nowhere for his character to go, and there’s really not much else you can do if you wanna make people buy Ellie’s quest for vengeance and her seemingly becoming more and more violent. It’s not gonna work if you kill off a character we just get introduced to like her girlfriend.
And people seem to be forgetting exactly what the tone of this universe is. This isn’t some Joesph Campbell Hero’s Journey s\*\*\*, these games are literally inspired by s\*\*\* like No Country for Old Men and The Road, stuff that flies in the face of that kind of storytelling.
And as much as I love Joel, I don’t think people should be treating him like some sort of of superhero character, and I don’t think the games should either when he’s a guy who’s done incredibly f\*\*\*ed up things (in the first game he literally admits to having robbed and killed innocent people). In the world these games have built, it makes complete narrative sense that all the bad s\*\*\* he’s done would ultimately catch up with him in the end
As for how they pull off the Abby sections, that remains to be seen, but I got faith in Neil and ND making it work, and I still think the game will still ultimately be Ellie’s story in the end

yeah the cut scene ive seen of Abby im not going to lie she actually seems pretty cool.

I’m sure they’ll make her a compelling character. I remember before RDR2 came out people were saying Arthur looked like a generic character then the game came out and everyone ended up loving him. I’m just worried that certain people already have their minds on her based off of how she looks which is unfortunate

I don’t even have to read the spoilers and pretty much have a feeling what’s about to happen in this s*** and I’m not going to like it

Not a spoiler as it was made a year ago, but it predicted and discussed the direction Naughty Dog was heading that eventually resulted in the current situation.

Kinda wish Abby was the daughter of just a random dude you killed rather than one of the surgeons tho
more leaks
PM
never pmed someone before but I'll just leave this under spoiler.
people are mad cause a certain character dies however given the cut scenes that weren't shown and the perspective thats given as the intro of the game one ca at least understand Abby (the new character's motivation) also she's actually not as brute and wild as some think. the misconception of her sexuality or image is answered which idk why that was a problem.
