I think the song represents the tale good music was telling and Drake’s escape from the controversy. We hear this very clearly in the last couple lines of Drake’s final verse. When he goes over the pillow talk situation and then ends with, ‘it’s hard to believe it’. In other words, he’s saying “that story doesn’t add up”.

Everyone was telling him that it sounded hard, but he still wasn't sure about it bc he thought it was weird where the beat drops. Sean said he was going to write to it. G-Ry forgot about the beat.

He remembered it when Drake posted that story with him in the studio saying 80%. He sent it to Noel, and Noel responded around midnight asking for the files.

A week or two before the record dropped Cardo asked him for his lawyer info. He still didn't know about lncl. A day before the song dropped, Drake sent him the video and said it's his single.
