Out of curiosity do you think it’s cultural appropriation for RDC World to have 6 episodes of Anime House

no because RDC world and black people engaging in Asian culture in America or other POC communities are not participating in an erasure of said culture

Once I opened this thread looked at her twitter, instagram , details of her life best I could. As well as interviews there is nothing that gives off that this is in anway genuine. You defending her this bad saying she rapping her ass off and not even bothered to translate what she is saying but acting like you care is kind of bizarre. I am not trying to cancel her. I am saying If OP genuinely wants to find artist in other cultures that feel genuine I respect that and I am always also looking for that.

I didn’t mention erasure but that is by definition cultural appropriation. We sugar coat it because we like it

I agree with you because I am also on the look out for that but you’re too quick to judge

Are you trying to play devil's advocate or do you actually believe this? There's a massive difference between appropriation and appreciation, they aren't stealing things and trying to make it their own like KPop.

I dont think this existing erases anything to be clear. Because I didnt really know of her existence before today besides every so often seeing her controversy for cultural appropriation possibly while scanning instagram. She doesnt affect my appreciation of rap. I am more interested than the drill parody or music like this is there actually a come up of south korean, japanese and korean conscious rappers. Which I am sure there are but if there isnt that is again THE POINT I AM GETTING AT. I want to see those making concept songs that are korean or making genuine songs that arent aimed at going viral on tik tok. Certain artist like this know they will get views and clicks from accusations of cultural appropriation or being goofy . So they do it because they know they will get the same people defending them and doing their marketing for free 99

it’s not lmao. USA was literally built upon the intermingling of POC communities. We aren’t engaging or approaching anime because “it's cool” and we aren’t gaining any social or economic gain. people have been engaging in that genre for the actual depth of the stories/plots and appreciating the art/artist and the culture they are presenting

RDC aren’t walking around calling themselves Chicano doing drill rap living in Korea when none of that exists in Korea

Former to show we are simply too quick and unwilling to let foreigners into Rap lmao

Same forum with an issue on UK Rap even though they speak the same language

Rap wants to be gatekept but other subcultures must be absorbed

I listened to the entirety of OP. viewed her twitter. Instagram. Looked up if she had a full album out ( she doesnt). Saw what she was posting. Tried to see if she had interviews. Saw the drill song where she is flashing cash

Nigga even if she was black as I was it is the content itself that comes across as phony

even if she was black its sitll to me cultural appropriation or reprehensible if you are pretending to be from a lifestyle or class that you are NOT.

The point of cultural appropriation is power dynamics up and down

The majority adopting minority artefacts for prop - which comedy and rap share

The actual depth and appreciation is subjective especially when the medium is comedy as both RDC & Chicano are

  • HaroldsChicken 🇵🇸

I am not a "oh they black so its cool they make a drill song and trash rap because at least they are black "

No way if she was Black you’d have those posts on page 1 you’re insane, boy

But if you say so I’d have to concede

  • HaroldsChicken 🇵🇸

comparing RDC to this is absolutely pathetic man I genuinely cant take you seriously in any form

can you describe to me the point in time when black people had dominance similar to that of white/asian empires to call RDC appreciating Asian culture appropriation?
