Disagree on Worst Behavior
That’s the sort of record Kendrick and Keem are STILL trying to make, that song was actually way ahead of its time
I don’t think age arguments are as worthless as you’re making it out. It matters how something sounds as time passes and the very best albums are ones that age gracefully in some way
Lowkey I do take away from Carter 3 a little bit for the pop stuff not holding up, it’s part of why Tha Carter II is better, it’s more timeless and plays better today
And as much as you might pick a couple sounds out on NWTS, almost the entirety of GKMC production is so cheesy with all the snares and snare rolls being trash. Takes me out of that album more than anything on NWTS
From Time still better than loyalty. And if we talking about snaps and snares then we gotta switch the convo to GKMC. The snares and snare rolls on BDKMV are terrorism and it’s a problem through the album how corny the snares are
”That’s the sort of record Kendrick and Keem are STILL trying to make, that song was actually way ahead of its time”
there’s not a single thing that indicates this man
they are worthless, because something sounding “dated” or “timeless” isn’t even well defined, the things typically considered “timeless” in hip-hop are typically soul sample or some boom bap, any pop album that is made within in the context of current trends, music, technology, whatever is going to inevitably sound “dated” it’s a hollow argument that can only be made in reference to the overarching sound palette of a genre, it makes no sense to take away an album or music at all for that
this sort of discussion only takes place in hip-hop discussions, you never see any rock fans or metal fans talking about something sounding “dated” or “old” at all
the real s*** is if drake had writers for that 👀👀
If he had writers for that then it truly is over for Drake and I don't wanna hear anything his stans gotta say after that.
I just highly doubt he had writers for that though.

well we gonna get back to that, for the record
so I'll just sip my tea until then
genuinely have never heard some nigga that listens to rock say “man The White Album aged really bad it sounds old”
let alone something like jazz
NWTS is definitely a product of its time, but that isn't always a bad thing. It's a lotta albums that sound old or have had their production not "age well" with the advancement in DAW tech/capabilities and general production techniques.
All that being said I still like NWTS much more than DAMN overall, however NWTS doesn't have songs on there that hit harder than Feel, Yah, or Fear to me
exactly lol, good music is good music
when im crate digging and find some old ass doo wop or soul music, i can tell that it was made with primitive recording technology and oftentimes it has a heavy lo-fi quality to it and yet it sounds good

not gonna say “wow this sounds so dated/old it’s trash”
Imo Drake messing up not releasing anything, especially since he’s acting like he already has something.
If I was Drake I would give Euphoria no time to grow at all by releasing my s*** max 1 day after it came out
if he stayed silent like kendrick he’d have more of a pass but since he’s posting IG stories and crashing nicki’s shows to make sure people know he’s on the clock
end of the weekend imo
the real s*** is if drake had writers for that 👀👀
The big reveal gonna change the rap game.

Why do y’all continue to engage with that nigga? He literally does that weird s*** just for clicks

That discussion been happening in other genres forever
There’s an interesting thing that happened in the 70s-80s where a lot of critics decided that Sgt Peppers was actually dated because it was too associated with that “summer of love” moment in the 60s and all that big production style was great for the moment but not as impressive as time passed
And I wouldn’t go that far but the other albums are better when the dust settled and that’s kind of part of it
I get that it can be annoying to see the argument thrown around a lot but it’s really not a worthless idea. The albums that ultimately get considered the greatest have some quality of timelessness or ability to endure
Can someone post that pic of Drizzy right after like that dropped? He looked so down bad
say word Scottie Beam is just like KTT2 users finding random ass tweets with next to no likes and quotes lol
Nvm chart positions. This song has made the news & boosted local business. Kendrick won

yeah, but they criticized that album for being too reflective of its time versus being at least somewhat of a nuanced take on a pre-existing sound
like look at RAGE music for example, Carti brought it to the forefront and we have a load of clones and niggas that bit and copied off of that sound, years and decades from now, we will know exactly what time period it was when we hear that sort of production in the future, there’s good takes on a sound that are “timeless” in reference to the music that was around at the time, and there’s s*** that’s “dated” in the sense that it recycles tropes and doesn’t innovate or lacks individuality
N95 for example production wise is terrible to me production wise because it just sounds like a generic early to mid 2000s synth with hard drums on it even if Kendrick snapped on it, there’s not a lot of flavor to it, same with Virginia Beach which sounds like an extremely generic mid 2010s soul sample trap beat
Bleek f***ing with it.
Not Memphis Bleek
It might be over for Drake!
replay valuye is crazy
damn are any of these accounts ran by black people
Kendrick gotta drop an album this year man. The energy he been on is hungry af

And that nuance you’re talking about is exactly why I feel like NWTS holds up well
Can you recognize some hallmarks of that era? Sure but that alone isn’t enough to hate on it or take points off
In this context I’m not even trying to knock an album down for having aged poorly, which I can see the flaws in from your perspective
But I’m saying I hold an album high for seeming to sound really good and fresh today outside a couple tracks. I don’t think that’s too crazy
I see NWTS as a blueprint for a lot that followed
Imo someone could drop Worst Behavior today and it would probably do better today than it did then
