    Synopsis

or like, he could just go and do the work on the ground and not say anything about it? what is the purpose of addressing it in such a manner as he chose than to validate himself and his own image

Because even if he does do that work, if people don't see it being posted about, they call him and others out.. isn't that enough to make someone want to defend themselves or explain their perspective?

You literally just used semantics yourself, but keep at it as you have no point to prove.

Say he "subbed" someone when everyone knew who it was about from the jump. That isn't a sub.

It’s still a sub if he didn’t say his name

Some subs are just more obvious than others

Respect to Cole for putting it in his raps instead of social media

niggas expecting every woman to talk to them like their mama or like a somebody who needs to prove themselves to the man.

i do think it’s some unaddressed misogyny there, but the defense mechanisms will stop them from acknowledging it and fixing it.

No we expected someone no matter who they are to not reprimand someone then not explain what is wrong with what they're doing

still don’t understand why the person who was wrongfully called out has to stand up and be the bigger man in this situation lmfao

i guess if youre insecure lol. but in that case why not just post a vid from a protest or something?

    I’ll appreciate the album

I think Cole approached it the wrong way tbh.

He should’ve responded on his album directly and only given her 3-4 bars and then moved on. Really wasn’t worth a whole song. Apparently she’s extremely contradictory and only wrote that tweet out of frustration. She was definitely in the wrong, but she deleted it and moved on.

that’s not being condescending. that’s saying if you profit off the pain, you should show your face and use your voice during a time like this. it’s not black and white for me but she’s definitely not being condescending.

    now be clear,

i felt this tweet was unnecessary from jump because i don’t want a rapper to speak for me, i want to speak for myself. because kendricks “we gotta fix this from within” respectability politics during the ferguson protests was completely harmful.

unless you have the information and you’re focusing on defunding to abolish, you’re risking the chance of setting us back because in america, a celebrity’s voice is valued more than an educated person who’s dedicated their life to studying the topic at hand.

that’s why i respect what kanye did. using his capital for positive and not speaking because he risks the chance of putting his foot in his mouth.

Idk tone deaf would be him not acknowledging the positives. To me it felt like he was describing how the activists can be tone deaf in some ways while trying to help.. but different perspectives I guess

This is the definition of condescending lol

She patronizing these rappers for not tweeting. She literally talking down on them for not doing what she wanted them to do despite not knowing what they were doing in the first place. Yes this is what you would call being condescending
