Just heard the song and we legit have to have a serious conversation about getting rid of twitter lmao I think people need serious help bro 4real 4real it’s literally wild to me the reaction here. He’s literally meeting her at the table at the beginning of the song and by the end Realizes that she may, in some aspect, be right question himself because deep down he knows he’s not doing enough hahahaha like wtf are people even arguing about
this s*** is legitimately mind boggling
so......................
do you think the reality of black women's day to day, and their criticism of how black men have a large part in the struggles they face, only exists on Twitter? you don't think black women echo or at least have these thoughts in real life? twitter simply makes it easier to connect with the individuals who share those lines of thinking. this isn't out of thin air and quite frankly it's offensive to think so.
i'm not understanding the focus on twitter and the type of people who utilize it. this is twitter, one of the largest social media platforms in the world. i think it would be safe to say that twitter isn't the end all be all for conversations like these.
and someone who was in tune with the conversation being had the last couple of days would see why Cole's approach is the exact opposite of what black women are looking for. nigga said to go follow Noname. it just can be read as dismissive, that's all.

It ain’t that deep
This dude Cole loves attention but acts like he’s above it all
the doubling down in the tweets is really confusing me man, i don't know him to be this guy. i won't say he's doing it for attention but i think he should take a step back and reevaluate the role he needs to take in educating himself.
black people, men and women, have literally said "we're fed up. we're not spoon-feeding you white people anymore, step up and do the work" and here this nigga comes literally saying "can you help me." the issue lies right there. we as grown ass men gotta do better.
that 200 years shackles line is basically what kanye said during his tmz rant 2 years ago
It ain’t that deep
not for you. but it is for black women and the black men who don't want their sisters, mothers and lovers to see them as weak niggas who don't show the same love and provide the same care and protection that they give to us.
A history of black women doing more in civil rights? Interesting take, where do you get that from? Are hou talking today or all the way up to the 60s movement?
Black women were the ones to organize women during the suffrage movements. It was black women who organized and planned routes for marches during the Civil Rights Movement. It was black women who started the Black Panthers as a children's free breakfast and lunch program into an eventual black neighborhood/community watch. It was black women who mobilized niggas during the Black Liberation Army days of the 70s-90s. S***, it was black women who started this Black Lives Matter movement.
Forreal most if not all American social movements can be traced back to black women being fed the f*** up and doing something lol however, seeing as we live in the kinda society we do where men are taken more seriously than women, these women who put the initial work in oftentimes get erased from history.
This ain't to say black men don't do s***, because that'd be absolutely ridiculous given the black leaders we've had. But behind every powerful black male leader, I promise you...it's an even more powerful black woman behind him
The problem with what you said is Cole is literally dissing himself in the beginning of his verse. Says he has a low IQ etc
I can't see how he's big broing these women when he appears to come at this from a place of humility
Honestly though...that's part of the problem lol
So can someone give me a rundown of the arguments in this thread I don't want to read through 108 pages

Pg 24 was the highlight
ok. it's clear a lot of you think Twitter is some alternate reality where people go to express imaginary grievances that they don't feel in real life. fine.
even so, I would like to assume Cole would have the awareness to have some conversations with important black women in his life pertaining to the topic. it doesn't feel like that. it feels like this is all going over his head. and that's fine too, this is a time where we're all learning and gaining information. but the timing of it is literally hurtful and that's why it's getting the reaction it's getting.

Twitter needs to die honestly I read that luckily it's losing more members every month than gaining so that's good news

We’re going to have to agree to disagree here
