I agree with you but This is the worse thing that could’ve dropped for too many reasons.
First, on the surface, from the rapping part which is what this started out as, this is Drake in his bag. Some of his best technical lyrics and reminds me of listening to the Shoe Fits and Stories About My Brother. He matches meet the grahams in the sense of making a quintessential Drake track as good as Kendrick made a quintessential Kendrick track.
Other than that, it’s a shame these lines were wasted on this and it falls flat on the message for a few reasons.
Strategy-wise, he missed a moment and was sloppy. He could’ve doubled down on justifying the fake plant info to call out Kendrick’s hypocrisy for having a convicted SA and pedo on Mr. morale (I know that’s not the point of the album as a Kendrick Stan). instead, it seems he just played around with a serious topic for the sake of winning rap battle. That implies he’s not taking it serious, doesn’t help his case when he denies it, and weird coming from the guy that said Pusha went too far. The best play would’ve been just planting the fake daughter bit to make Kendrick looked stupid but Drake put himself in a worse position by including the pedo bit.
Fan-wise, the more lies he is telling just puts the fans more at odds and complicates the whole discourse. You got weirdos projecting their own morals by defending Drake and Kendrick. All of these can be right:
Drake is a foul, moral-less person that pisses off people in the industry
Kendrick jumped the gun on the info, was sloppy with verification, and needs to address the Whitney issues after making it seem he’s healed after he made Mr. morale.
Drake leaves this proving his pen game shouldn’t be questioned, but I think most fans will conclude he’s a clear liar, foul, and potential pedophile.
