Man this acting from Laura Linney & Tom Pelphrey is f***ing phenomenal, some of the best I’ve seen on TV in awhile.

If there’s anything right in the world than Pelphrey will become a star after this. I know he has a role in the next Fincher film but from what I understand it’s pretty minor.

Finished season 3. Very good. No major complaints. I enjoyed the ending although...

I don’t know why Navarro killed Helen. For whatever beef I have with Helen for scheming to bury the Byrdes in the last few episodes, she was by my account a great employee of Navarro. Loyal, competent, ruthless. I don’t know his reasoning but I assume we’ll find out more next season. Navarro is a great character though, I very much enjoy him.

I also don’t know how Frank Cosgrove would ever work with Darlene after what she did to Frank Jr. That is entirely unforgivable. We’ll see where that leads but I will have trouble buying that they enter into a business relationship after Darlene blasted away his manhood. If mafia movies have taught me anything it’s that the male child is always sacred. And it was a disproportionate response to Ruth’s beating.

Ruth is my favorite character I’d say. Her or Marty. Story wise I think they did a nice job of making the Wyatt/Darlene connection seem more genuine over the course of the season, and they brought back Darlene from crazy psycho to a more human character. I like how the chess board is set up with Ruth now on their team but on a personal level, god Ruth take a damn break from these crazy families. She just ping ponged from the cartel/Byrdes to the local heroine manufacturer. Maybe try the legitimate world for once.

Linney was nominated for awards last year but didn’t win. I could see her winning this year. But my vote would go first to Ruth repeating as best supporting actress.

I can understand where all the hate for season 2 is coming from

But s3 is definitely the better season. It feels like the payoff of what season 2 was building up.

But I gotta respect s2 for planting the roots for season 3 to be so good
