Episode 1- Yeah, it’s not great… maybe if you’ve never seen the cartoon you might get some enjoyment out of it.
I’ll probably keep watching tho. I know many say it looks like cosplay which it kinda does but still looks cool to me growing up with the cartoon. So far, Zuko actor has been the best one
Gonna watch this weekend, not liking the reviews I'm seeing tho. With the budget spent on this, they could of made something really special

All I can think about is whether I’d like this if I hadn’t seen the animated series before but I’ve seen that s*** like a few times over

Yeah I tried the first episode, not gonna watch more. F*** Netflix
I’m just crying at how amazing of an animated series they could have made with the budget of this s*** instead.
Even remastering the original series would have been money better spent. But yeah, this is just an inferior, unnecessary rehash solely motivated by money
If something like this needed to exist in the Avatar universe because "cartoons are for kids" then they should have simply created an original story succeeding the events of the original shows.

As I was watching I had the same thought that it’d be cooler if they just made it an original live action show in this world instead of a retelling. The original animated story is just a lot to ask of child actors.
I’ve started reading the comics this past week. On Book Fire of the side adventures that happened during the series
Can’t wait to get to the things that happen post series
Now they're cooking
This s*** still a year and a half away 😑

They had to remind people because of the reception of the Netflix show
Batvatar the new Barbenheimer

The comics are great and they keep the spirit of the show/characters alive.
Ehh I didn’t know the new series would continue to follow Aang n em. I’m sure I’ll enjoy it but I really hate when creators can’t just let things rest and move on. If we never got Korra, I’d be a lot more open to it. I wanna know what’s happening after her. How has the world evolved and changed?
This lil in between era, I’m guessing working on the founding and development of Central City or w/e it’s called. This also means it’s pre-convergence, so no other Airbenders apart from Aang
Hard pass tbh
The ending is powerful because it ends
They should leave this IP alone and instead finally focus on making more original animated series like it.
The entire Avatar saga just shows how out of touch these execs are.
We didnt just like Avatar cause it was a great story we liked it because animation rules. There is shockingly little animated fantasy series out there that have a real story to tell. Western animation is mostly just episodic comedies.
Avatar was the breath of fresh air as a kid on television. Sure spongebob was funny but avatar you turned on one day he was learning water bending the next time aang is already a pro. And hey suddenly Toph is a companion. When are they gonna fight the firelord?!? Stuff happened and it progressed. Man it was peak
Just watch the first episode and it was amazing
The visuals are absolutely beautiful. COLORS!
Like I said here before, I love how they went for a fantastical look instead of realistic. Has a certain Baz Luhrmann feel… I don’t understand how people think this looks bland, when every other fantasy show or movie looks dark af
Btw, adapting this would always be difficult because the animated show has an insufferable fanbase
they could make the greatest show ever and these b****es would still be complaining. just grow tf up 💀
they were having a meltdown on twitter because they didn’t use the same opening monologue
