my boy you out your depth. You don’t even know what the original comment was
14:50 "Stonewall gays" vs modern gays -- yeah that is silly boomer stuff and obviously incongruous, like conservatives saying "MLK was great but BLM suck" when it seems obvious they would have disliked MLK if they were around back then. but, well, there are indeed "Stonewall gays" who agree with his views on the LGBTQ movement, so, old people gonna old people
20:18 Lesbian fight -- this seems clearly the most offensive thing in the whole special honestly, joking about hitting a woman, and i didn't even hear about it till i read the transcript, how is this not in angsty articles (maybe i just didn't read the right ones tho)
28:42 Frumpy d*kes -- it's funny that he admits he had the stereotypical chauvinist view of feminists. to me anyway. yes the phrase is offensive but it's meant to lampoon his own prior stereotypical view
30:21 Anj anecdote/Sojourner Truth s*** -- I'm sorry, based on my experience viewing arguments from "TERF" and "anti-TERF" interlocutors, I flatly disagree that "TERFism" (i.e, radical feminism) "stems from white womanhood centric feminism" any more than any other strain of feminism in America does. it's a BS smear argument that erases radical feminists of color
34:15 Bathroom stuff -- i mean, people are going to say things with language that seems coarse. nothing he said was not anatomically accurate. but he is against the law, and his arguments about the incongruity of forcing people to use "the cisnormative bathroom" are not out of place coming from the mouth of non-transphobic people, his coarse language aside
42:15 that anecdote to define a construct is strange and an appeal to Blackness
50:15 agree
51:20 agree as well that his Black/LGBTQ dichotomy is intellectually dissatisfying
as for the rest, well, i don't think explaining why I disagree with your interpretation in this thread is worth it, i understand why what he said is considered offensive, and, well, there will just be an impasse until there isn't.
again, I agree the whole "trans friend" thing is corny.
in the legal profession, we say reasonable people can disagree
Oh I'm just listening off things that I have seen people saying they took offense to. The frumpy dykes s*** was funny af to me and I have yet to meet any lesbian who has been offended by a straight person, man or woman, using dyke. Only when it is being used to offend. I guess people found offense in it and that's where that lil outrage is stemming from.
The reason why I disagree with the TERF talking points is because I'm following the science and research done on trans people and why it is that they transition. The things that cause them to want to transition, not feeling "right" within their bodies, etc. It also doesn't help that I've interacted with TERFs in the past who oftentimes fall back on the "But trans in the bathrooms!" talking points.
The trans bathroom bit in the special is just jokes clearly, but it's just one of those kinda things where he's giving transphobes validation due to the language he uses in describing it. I'm sure it's not intended to cause offense, but the people who want to offend will cite the bit.
As for radical Black feminism, I'm come to understand that it is very different from white feminism and even radical feminism in general from readings and classes I have taken on the subject.

dont agree with the bathroom bit especially because someone in the audience cheered when he talked about the new law and he was like no no this isnt a good law or something along those lines
I don’t understand what you’re trying to say
this man was so mad about people laughing he had to quit a show LMAO

Covered that as well
In the special it's clear that he's only doing it for shtick. He did lowkey clarify that this is just jokes because he said it's a "mean law" that he doesn't agree with. It's just unfortunate that transphobes are gonna take that bit that was clearly meant to be a joke and make it into something else.

but yea i agree it sucks that transphobes are using him now as a hero
Are you ED lmao read what you posted
nah it's just ironic that he gets mad about people laughing about oppression jokes and yet people can't be mad about harmful trans jokes
Niggas is straight up dumb as f*** b
Aye you can catch mutes for using this word
chill out

I had a mod tell me it's cool if I censor myself or spell it differently. I have no idea how true that is, but I have yet to be reported for it so ion know. It ain't nothing for me to edit though.
Pretty big difference between sketches about white people or black people or whatever and releasing two whole specials basically just talking about trans people lol
It’s weird. Im a fan
Even above all this the s*** just wasnt funny
the last one made me laugh atleast
this special was his closure to all the responses/criticisms he got from the last few specials with netflix
at the end he said hes not going to speak on trans s*** anymore
with that understanding it makes sense
All this talking about Dave fell off in this thread meant he wasn’t for you to begin with . Black community still loved Dave and finds him hilarious. So move on.
people love when dave s***s on other communities for 30 minutes straight for decades but as soon as the jokes on them its offensive and violence
not surprising at all
squid game was a surprise hit, dave is guaranteed big numbers
Covered that as well

I think Dave is just prideful and sees trans people as easy bait
He doesn’t like being told what he can joke about and it’s hard for him to let the topic go because it’s always relevant
Well yea
Did you see how s***ty the American actors were in squid? The English translation is also very poorly done. It was an unknown project. It was a super cheap show to make.
Dave is the biggest comedian in the world outside of Kevin. Any studio will pay him millions because of the views he generates.
Do you not grasp that transwomen know that being a woman is more than just having a vagina and "acting girly" or you just talking out your ass cause you don't know any trans people?
I am saying that is much of what Dave is repeating not addressing trans people . The trans community knows
Ironic coming from an Rx nigga
The original comment is talking about women being more than just a vagina. How gay men n trans women act to display their femininity ties into that. Being a woman is deeper than all that was the original point. Very basic concept to understand, but it don’t relate I guess.
im Glad someone gets what I’m trying to say . Being any identity is more than being the stereotype . The same way I’ve said over and over someone can be trans without undergoing gender reassignment surgery
Do you not grasp that transwomen know that being a woman is more than just having a vagina and "acting girly" or you just talking out your ass cause you don't know any trans people?
Reread my post I said here
I didn’t say trans women . I know they know because of what they see and what they suffer . Part of uniting women and trans women will be in what they share but what is that
-Suffering by hands of men
-Being visually consumed and instantly judged
-hormones if they’ve undergo hormone surgery but again as I keep saying someone can be trans without hormone or gender reassignment surgery and from what I gather they are just as valid as someone who can afford to receive the whole surgery
Which is part of my point too the surgery isn’t cheap . It isn’t covered by insurance. There is a reason you see many gofundme and mutual aid request for people wanting to be the real them.
Should it be covered by insurance or aided in some way so it’s more accessible to people that don’t just have money to do so and the belief / support of their family which again is more often while people than others ?
