I was feeling this one

back half of this album >>>
the first time you heard “it’s a mighty tight squeeeezzzeeeeeeee”
one of the catchiest tunes of the album
makes you wanna be at an outdoor festival singing along to it in a sea of people
WOW
what a king! wasn’t sure if you were into it or not
that’s beautiful to read ❤️
man f***kkk so glad to have you back hope you like this thread! im glad it got so popular within just one day and had lot of great music talk, we put some people into neil already!
what are you faves songs or albums by him?
and yeah long may you run IS SOOO SLEPT ON have you guys ever listened to it @Elric @RVI ???
only listened to it once and didnt f*** much with it tbh but ill revisit
Of course. Neil is a family favorite and has always made music that comforted me during dark days. You're known for threads that blow up and bring everyone together. So I ain't surprised at all.
My Top 3 albums are Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, Tonight's the Night and Long May You Run.
Top 3 Neil songs are Little Wing, Midnight on the Bay and Sugar Mountain.
Little Wing
Neil and his cheeky habit of stealing song titles he likes to write a whole new song around
i get your point on this one but still dont feel like its quite a full on metal riff
harder edge psychedelic and more metallic than 99% of the time yes . same thing as the heavy riff part of Defecting Grey
even something like first few seconds of this i have hard time saying that about
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpBCXof2qCcbut the convo of "first metal"/dividing line between proto metal/hard rock and full metal gets kinda lame after a point for me. made even worse by the changed definition of metal over the years. like if we were in 1976 then we would be calling more stuff metal
still feel like everything before Black Sabbath s/t could also be found on just some hard/psych rock song within elements of those genres but the black sabbath s/t song riff is first one where there is absolutely no argument against it being metal
Stopped reading after "I get your point"
Stopped reading after "I get your point"
Will do!
I don’t think this is a very popular song of his but I love this cover Puerto Rico Flowers did of “When Your Lonely Heart Breaks”:
thank you for sharing boss!
ive already linked you this right? it’s my fav video on yt ever lol

Everybody knows this is nowhere
another perfect album this one being my perfect, his singing sounds the best out of the three I heard so far. The title track, down by the river, losing end and cowgirl in the sand are gonna be on constant repeat for me in the near future. Also Running Dry reminds me of LOTR but then again I havent seen or read any of LOTR s*** so idk.
choky my goat 💗 you always get it
that album is a diamond 💎
BTW

go for rust never sleeps after!
SORRY GUYS I TURNED JERRY INTO A GOTH SINCE LAST TIME BUT WE BYKE
only neil could pull this off
I wanna peep this album, I’m intrigued

i was gonna say peep his deadman score but after like what 7 classics in a row where you get what neil blassics are and his sound be like maybe you need a detour and a challenging one! trans is the best for that
From late 1980 to mid-1982, Young spent much of his waking hours carrying out a therapy program for his young son, Ben, who was born with cerebral palsy and unable to speak. Neil disclosed to almost no one at the time that he was doing so, or that the repetitive nature of the songs on both the previous album, Re·ac·tor, and this one related to the exercises he was performing with Ben. Work on Trans began in late 1981 as a continuation of Re·ac·tor, with the usual Crazy Horse lineup. But then Young started playing with two new machines he had acquired, a Synclavier and a vocoder. Crazy Horse guitarist Poncho Sampedro recalled, "Next thing we knew, Neil stripped all our music off, overdubbed all this stuff, the vocoder, weird sequencing, and put the synth s*** on it."
Young's direction was influenced by the electronic experiments of the German band Kraftwerk, but more importantly he felt that distorting his voice reflected his attempts to communicate with his son. "At that time he was simply trying to find a way to talk, to communicate with other people. That's what Trans is all about. And that's why, on that record, you know I'm saying something but you can't understand what it is. Well, that's exactly the same feeling I was getting from my son.

That’s very interesting actually, sad he was going through all of that but an interesting approach to making new music. But right on, imma check out that Deadman one as well.
