BigSkinnyYou play the games to tell you who the best teams are. The response of ā then why play the gamesā propagates an idea that each team plays an equal or very close to equal schedule. Thatās the way the nfl is. Itās also why record fuels playoffs in the nfl.
In college (I donāt mean to try to patronize you if this comes off this way), you have an understanding of which conferences are better. Itās why the pac was discredited for so long, but this season we came into understanding that the quality was higher thus enhancing Washingtonās 13-0 record. B10 is a league of three teams, Michigan getting through PSU and OSU confirms our understanding that they are one of the four best. FSU playing and beating LSU soundly is a good. Borderline great win but thatās really it on their schedule. Clemson is a good win, but thatās not the same as the other conferences. Thatās just on resume. Watching the games should honestly tell you more about the teams. How do they look when under game pressure to win, how do they beat bad teams, how do āfeelā. You can say itās subjective, but we are football fans and know when a team is good or elite. Iām saying with fsuās resume it doesnāt compare to bama if it came to it and the fact that Travis is out solidifies it.
This entire post is completely dismissive of the fact that the committee intentionally and consistently over-ranks SEC teams and under-ranks ACC and PAC 12 teams in order to boost the resumes of Georgia and Alabama. Case in point: Tennessee losing back to back games by a combined score of 74-17 and only dropping 8 spots and remaining ranked so Georgia and Alabama would have another ranked team on their respective schedules
You can't just say an undefeated power 5 champion isn't good because you don't like the schedule they played. Florida State has a higher strength of schedule than Georgia btw.
