Don’t think we’ll ever win in the playoffs with Mario but I’m expecting us to win the ACC soon

The 12 team playoff is going to help so many more programs and that is a win.

The homefield in the first round is going to be an excellent reminder of the beauty of college football. There is NOTHING else like it.

Do I like the brackets like March Madness? No. Re-seed every round.

But I understand the logistical nightmare of planning bowls in a week.

The NCAA’s hard on for Jim while the literal Wild West is happening in the portal is so f***ing frustrating. But cheeseburgers. But scouting.

Damien Martinez, RB ORST, has come out and said he’s not leaving but actively being approached to join other schools.

Literal pay to play. SMU is just NOW making a comeback from the Death Penalty from the 80s for paying players. Now it’s free reign if going through friends.

Just make it what it is. The minor league of the NFL. They get salary caps, roster allocations, and school is something they choose to do in their free time.

Riley Leonard entering the portal with a no contact tag and immediately getting 4 crystal balls to Notre Dame was wild as hell to watch in real time

At risk of posting an "old man yells at cloud" take, it really is beginning to feel more and more like free agency with every passing year

I didn't want to believe it, but I'm starting to think there's a genuine shot that FSU gets left out at 13-0

The closest scenario to this I think we've ever had was 2014 Ohio State where they were down to their 3rd string QB, not even their backup. The difference is that we got 1 game of Cardale Jones and he looked so good the committee decided to move Ohio State, who was out of the playoff at that point, into the 4 spot. This was a stacked field too, with 11-1 Baylor and 11-1 TCU both missing the playoff in favor of Ohio State. TCU was actually holding the 3 spot until Ohio State beat Wisconsin 59-0 in the Big 10 title game, which kicked TCU out.

I say all that because the committee is still trying to hammer home the "4 best, not 4 most deserving" point (despite not following it pretty much ever) and a 13-0 FSU with Rodemaker at QB just simply does not look like a top 4 team in this loaded field, and many would argue they didn't look like a top 4 team even with Travis.

I think there is a legitimate chance that, assuming all chalk this weekend, Texas could get that final spot over FSU with a dominant win or Georgia could get it with a close loss. Especially if FSU just squeaks by Louisville. It would be unprecedented, and I don't quite know how I would feel about it yet. But Rodemaker is no Cardale Jones, and I suppose it wouldn't exactly be fair to give whoever plays FSU a bye to the national championship which is what it's looking like right now.

There are two reasons I haven't been able to get fully on board with this. One, like I already mentioned, there's no precedent for it. An undefeated P5 champ missing the playoff has never happened before. Even cases of one loss P5 champs missing the playoff are few and far between (only happened 3 times, and 2 of them were in the same year as regular season co-champions that never played a conference championship game.) An undefeated champion FSU missing for a 1 loss champion Texas or 1 loss non-champion Georgia would be the first time such a thing has ever happened.

The other reason is that I feel it's unfair to the rest of the team to tell them that they can't compete for a national championship because one guy went down. Yes, it's the most important position on the team, but something about it feels wrong. Those guys also contributed to those (potential) 13 wins, and to tell them their contributions now mean nothing because the QB went down just isn't right.

I'm almost hoping for chalk at this point so the committee is forced to take a stand on "best" vs "most deserving." If they practice what they preach and it's the 4 best teams, FSU will be left out.

The out for the committee this is they can set the precedent. Although it hasn’t been set to date, they can change the expectations.

And then next year ALL of it is irrelevant again because conference champions get auto seed and there’s plenty of room to accommodate a team like FSU in the future if it happens again.

Because this is the last year of the 4 team playoff, I would not be surprised to see them change the rules. It would be upsetting, but there isn’t a damn thing anyone can do about it once it is determined.

Think with the rankings this week, they were clear that FSU is in if they win. They were trailing to a bad UF team in the 4th Q and that didn't knock them out.

No the hell we don’t lol

  • If there was ever a time for them to rig things and act in the best interest for ratings, this is it. FSU needs to either roll Travis, Blackmon, Francois, Jameis, SOMEONE other than those two they have now, or forfeit that spot
