Here are the 5 worst resumes to ever make the 4 team CFP (in chronological order)

2017 Georgia: 2 ranked regular season wins (@ #24 Notre Dame, vs. #17 Mississippi State), one ranked loss (blown out @ #10 Auburn), blowout conference championship win over #4 Auburn

2018 Clemson: 2 ranked regular season wins (vs. #16 NC State, @ #17 Boston College)

2019 Clemson: 1 ranked regular season win (vs. #12 Texas A&M), conference championship win over #22 Virginia

2020 Notre Dame: 2 ranked wins (vs. #1 Clemson without Trevor Lawrence, @ #25 North Carolina), blown out in conference championship to #4 Clemson

2021 Cincinnati: 1 ranked regular season win (@ #9 Notre Dame), conference championship win over #16 Houston

Three of these teams had no regular season wins over top 10 teams, two of them (both Clemson teams) had no wins over any top 10 team period

My question is will 2023 Georgia make this list potentially not having any regular season wins over a single top 20 team, let alone top 10

    2018 team was specialllll

    and yea likely UGA will.

what’s funny is idr see them being blown out in either the semi final or final if they make it there. creampuff schedule but top of the pack this year isn’t looking all that scary

Yeah that 2018 Clemson team was crazy special. Dominant regular season (albeit against nobody) and won both playoff games going away, including over an Alabama team that was one of the best of the CFP era

I'm also not trying to knock Georgia, everyone obviously knows they're really good. But at this point it doesn't look like their schedule is going to allow for them to fully show their strength.

They have 4 teams currently ranked in the 20s on their schedule as of today (@ #22 Florida, vs. #23 Missouri, vs. #20 Ole Miss, @ #21 Tennessee)

Florida likely will still be ranked when they play Georgia, but doesn't have many opportunities to improve on that rank a ton unless teams in front of them lose. Their schedule before playing Georgia is @ Kentucky, vs. Vanderbilt, @ South Carolina. They might be able to get to 15 with some help?

Missouri plays LSU before playing Georgia, so that rank will likely be gone.

Ole Miss plays LSU this weekend and will likely drop out of the rankings with a loss. They'll still be a fringe top 25 team by the time they play Georgia, but they'll need to secure wins against Arkansas, Auburn, and Texas A&M before doing so.

The Tennessee game is in the middle of November, but they play Alabama in late October which could result in them temporarily losing their rank.

For the sake of this exercise, let's say that Florida wins out until Georgia, Missouri loses to LSU but wins every other game before playing Georgia, Ole Miss loses to LSU and wins out until playing Georgia, and Tennessee loses to Alabama but wins every other game they play until Georgia.

Georgia's ranked wins would look something like: #17 Florida, #25 Ole Miss, #23 Tennessee

We have to keep in mind that the CFP committee could keep these teams ranked with 2 or 3 losses to boost Georgia's schedule, but also have to consider how much it matters because they have a spot locked up as the reigning 2x champion so long as they don't lose a game. I think their playoff chances are over if they do drop any of these games though.

if they lose one of Tenn or Florida games i think they can just barely sneak in, only cause the games are on the road and the committee always values losses on the road against conf opponents rather lightly it seems (rightfully so).

should be very very interesting to see how OSU PSU UM shake out, as well as if texas can stay undefeated. committee may have some difficult choices to make this year.
