UnityVerifiably untrue. According to NCAA.com, since the tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985 there has been an average of 8.5 March Madness upsets per year. NIL started in 2021. Here is the amount of upsets in the four tournaments following the introduction of NIL
2022: 14 (outlier year, tied for most upsets in modern tournament history)
2023: 8
2024: 9
2025: 4 (outlier year, this was also the chalkiest year in modern tournament history)So basically nothing has changed at all
