based on the information available at the time of my post, the punishment seemed disproportionate to the crime. like it was an excuse to get out of paying him.

my dad obv had to follow university procedure for his own "scandal" and the disparity in punishment was noteable.

The main issue here is that the mistress was on the university payroll and her salary doubled undoubtedly to keep her quiet. She wasn't hired/promoted because she was the most qualified candidate, she was because she was f***ing her boss. it leaves the university liable to be sued. He's not being fired because the affair itself.
