I just find what WW1 was about much more depressing, WW2 is obviously depressing but can be spinned off as an ideological crusade to save the world, meanwhile WW1 just wasted millions of lives cuz of dumb stubborn empires, there's no clear "good guy" like in WW2. WW1 was just a result of empires d*** measuring contest getting too tense that they had to start showing how they used it, in WW2 you can say ur dad sacrificed his life for the greater good, but in WW1 ur dads life was just wasted for no good reason.
ww1 prevented the dirty ottomans from making further inroads into europe
God fearing christians were subjugated to the cruel vicissitudes of the sultan's whim and saw their daughters stolen for s***slaves and their sons stolen to die under the banner of islam
