Mario's video game sales history goes far back before online gaming was on consoles?

there's more than enough evidence showing that the kids who game now and will be playing in the next 5-10 years are playing Multiplayer games as their main time spent but when i was a kid it wasn't the same as Mario was of course a big seller

yeah but kids aren’t even in the biggest audience in gaming, Mario and Pokémon franchises are still the best selling and their audiences are adults who were kids back when the older games came out

A lot of the best-selling franchises are either single-player or mostly single-player like final fantasy, sonic, assassins creed, GTA, etc

idk about majority but kids really are a large % and kids includes college students and unemployed 20-30 year olds lmao

the above games are all the most popular live service games which are played by both adults and kids and bring in a lot more money than all of the single player games u mentioned COMBINED

Some of these games are free

Apex legends has made $2 billion total revenue in 3 years of live service

GTA 5 is single player and made 2 billion in a few weeks bruh, before GTA online dropped

$3B revenue on a FREE game is exactly the kind of money Sony is looking to make while they also make money from their single player games

GTA 5 has made over $7B total in part because of the online service for sure

seeing Call of Duty 2024 in Game Pass will be Sony's biggest test tbh, that's where Sony gets a lot of its revenue from
