this was a whirlwind of an experience
It was cool but this chick just seems like a nut what am I missing here I see crazy people everyday
Are people unironically saying Nathan wanted to f*** this woman? In the film about media manipulation? Or are people just having fun, joking around?
It’s nuanced brother. Nathan wanting some type of female affection has always been part of his comedic persona

Wait they allow phones in the nut house?

It’s a dated masturbation joke. Taking Rosy Palm out tonight. Manuella for the Spanish speakers.

opening scene. Just couldn't do it.

why do I keep seeing people act as if this movie in anyway absolves her of guilt or makes it look like she didnt in some way lie or deceive the public. Its as if they needed a portion of the documentary to directly say "ELIZABETH HOLMES IS GUILTY AND IS A BAD PERSON"
Because a lot of audiences want their hand held lol similar messaging in Digger. There’s an interesting ?philosopher? (Idk what to call him) called Brad Troemel that touches on similar ideology.
Watching tomorrow morning. I’ve watched a few videos videos about her basic history and theranos rise and fall. Should I go any deeper or just go in with this brief stuff I know?
Personally I’d stay brief. My partner wants to watch the dropout and I’m kinda cool off that, I think this piece gives you enough information to form your own opinion on ol gal.
This was a trip of a watch. I was locked in for the 3 hours and more so than I was during odyssey. I will always tune in for anything Nathan related but I do think we’re close, if not there already, to seeing all of his tricks.
I was thrown for the first 30 of the film not hearing a Nathan VO and then had the thought of “oh then he probably won’t be doing a reenactment of any kind either”. Obviously being wrong, I think that was the only natural conclusion for Nathan to get any sort of resolution to what he went through.
Now I also find it interesting that at the end, they focus on the quote and we linger there, because I think that was the point of the entire project (and partially why it’s being put in for best film, outside of Oscar strict guidelines), these are all characters. Going into this, you have some idea of who EH is and what she did. Whether she did it or not doesn’t change any outcome and I don’t think this film got any closer to figuring out whether she’s truly lying or firmly believes what she’s saying. I personally think it’s a little of both, I think she truly believes in her vision of wanting to help the world but is lying about how the machines worked.
Unfortunately, I do think, currently, this is a one watch classic. David Bolen is brilliant as well as Ari Balouzian and I’m intrigued by their artistic output. The music, the framing, the shots, the editing are all truly brilliant, but I think Lance kind of gets carried by David due to a lot of Lance’s work gets celebrated due to their aesthetic. I also think we’ve hit the ceiling for how interesting EH can be. When it came out that Nathan had met with her some years back, I remember being intrigued by what he was doing, but I don’t necessarily think the film brought really anything new about her. If anything, this film opened up a lexicon for film makers to take from in a positive way.
Long winded way to say, yeah this was cool.
