some of the internet is more focused on virtue signaling that they saw the movie but that she is evil and deserves all the jokes/ being dehumanized/ in prison

One shot I really loved was when amanda was sitting against the tree with Nathan on the right side sitting too. It was taken from a low angle and the blocking and the coloring was immaculate.

I’m open to the idea that she genuinely doesn’t understand the joke. I guess I’d believe that more than the insinuation that she is acting like she doesn’t understand the joke.

Billy using that as an opportunity to prove that she is different than regular people makes my sensors go off because throughout the first half of the doc there is definitely a strategic effort by Elizabeth and Billy to sort of clean up her image. To prove to the audience that she is not who the media says she is.

but you say there is the strategic goal to clean up her image. That isnt their goal lol Nathan and Lance shot 16 hours a day and they chose to splice the footage up the way they did there isnt a day count. There is no indication at any point that billy or elizabeth know or decid what footage is used. So the framing of her image is on the hands of the editor, director and nathan to be best serve their narrative.

Well… I don’t exactly know what Lance and Nathan’s goal is with this. I think that’s the thing I’m still excavating.

But as for Billy and Liz, I do think there was a goal here to rehabilitate her image. In the film, it’s not like Liz is saying anything that doesn’t align with what she has said publicly and on trial. She’s never going to say “I knowingly defrauded people.”
