I think the fact that this is brought up in the first episode was extremely calculated, especially considering all the discourse around whether Nathan is being cruel and manipulative, or a genius, or both. I think the 6th episode will wrap up with a lot of the same themes to bring things circle of Nathan being Willy Wonka and this show being like the movie.

The "factory" of his sets - that he gets to create an environment that he gets to control.

The fact that all the kids & parents "win" the tickets and decide on their own to come to the chocolate factory but don't know the extent of what they have signed up for parallels the folks responding to the craigslist ads of their own accord and then the process going way further than they expected.

The disappearance of participants along the way (Patrick being the most prominent one).

This is kind of a half-baked theory, but I'm wondering if Thomas the "Charlie" figure. Nathan wonders why he joins the class if he's so against the method, and then realizes that the fact that the class is filmed and they are part of a larger show is what enticed Thomas. So that even if though he seems to think the point of the class is questionable, he keeps coming back and participating fully, not because he cares about the curriculum, but because he is intrigued by the entire production and setting of the class itself (within a show).

His meta-engagement makes him a standout student who "gets" the fielder method on a level that the other students are not on.

Wondering if there will be a passing-on of some sort of the "factory" to Thomas, as well as the elevator scene where he shows Thomas the kind of perspective Nathan has access to as "Willy Wonka".
