I think the thing about prem is that he makes his sound seem so easy. Like you can replicate that sound. But no one sounds quite like him tho.
i think imo this will be 30 years to late how its going to sound
Yes no one should be expecting this to be 2nd Childhood, NY state of Mind level Nas and Premier but you know people will anyway .
The expectations will still be high for some fans like it’s still the 90s

RZA stopped making good beats after 1997, most overrated producer of all time as if he was ever consistent, he is number 1 on that list, but DJ Premier was still making hot s*** all the way up to 2012, then he fell off his consistent credits.
I would say DJ Premier's golden era was in the mid 2000's, his best output, so he outlasted RZA for more than a decade.
So DJ Premier wins easily

A lot of people like to keep it in the 90's, and I agree, a lot of great stuff came out then, my favorite Gang Starr album is Daily Operation from 1992.
But to Preemo's credit, I feel like he got better with time. To me, nothing compares those dark and gritty beats from the 2000's. It felt old-school but modern at the same time, it was just a beautiful
time period to have this all dropping. While lots were riding the commercial side of rap heavy. It was a breath of fresh air in the underground during this time.
