also the cgi in the beginning was really f\*\*\*ing bad but it stopped bothering me as much the more i got settled in

CGI really not that bad I get that they have different budget constraints and if anything the CGI being like that made it feel more alien or weird

Sep 8Saw this last night. I was really enjoying everything up until the end of the fight in the forest, but everything after that started to lose me.
The camera-work and the action scenes were incredible. Really loved how weighty everything felt. Regarding the visual effects, there were a few scenes where it looked a little wonky, but to me it seemed more intentionally jarring rather than incompetently made, so I didn’t mind it. Really liked the moments of levity and comedy throughout as well.
Where it started to lose me was at the end. The final action sequence went on WAY too long and was extremely repetitive, and the ending felt like borderline ragebait. It seems like Na Hong-Jin definitely has some sort of sequel/continuation in mind, but this movie spends basically none of its runtime explaining the lore of the aliens in a way that would even have anyone wanting to see more of them.
Just looking at this as a turn-your-brain-off, extremely epic sci-fi blockbuster, I think it’s a really fun time! Might see it again and approach it with that mindset to see how my experience differs
