@op you being to nice and cordial to somebody who’s not giving you that same energy. I know that’s your mom but you gotta bring her back to reality and tell her to get an apartment.
You’re a grown man don’t let her dictate how your credit is used. You can be respectful about it but be as stern as possible.
If she keeps going on about buying a house then I'll just become more straight-up. I think she's out of crazy ideas so she's settling atm
Just become a millionaire
Hell na f*** that s***. If your mom doesn’t have the credit for this s*** or f***ed up her credit what do you think she’s gonna do to yours?? You can’t let this happen g
you should talk to a financial advisor or something op. obviously she's set on this so you need a professional opinion to have it make sense to her
It seems like you and your mom have a close relationship based off your posts, so I don’t think she is intentionally trying to ruin your credit or anything. Just be honest with her, that you don’t want to do it. I’m sure she will understand. Communicate with her 👍🏾
can you just co-sign?
nah, co-signing carries all the same responsibilities. if OP co-signs with his mom and she misses a payment, that means both of their credit scores tank equally.

oh s*** ok
YOOO OP.
if your mom has a good enough income, REFINANCING WILL BE VERY POSSIBLE ! I have been dealing with this kind of issue for years now , HELP YA MOMS !

If op was rich then yeah help your mom, but why ruin your life before it even starts for someone who had a chance?
He’s be doing them both a disservice by screwing up his credit while hers is screwed up to.
Best thing OP can do is say no now and become successful in life and then give to his mom when he can afford it.
surprising amount of people in this thread actively sympathizing with and encouraging child abuse

As long as she makes the payments on time until she can refinance, and he doesn’t plan on purchasing a home in that time, this will not “ruin his life”.
If she realistically can’t afford a $300k house, help her out and choose the house and price range yourself. This thread is full of clearly privileged people that don’t understand the blessing it is to own a home. If you call this child abuse, you are a b**** of the highest order

He ain't obligated to buy someone a house

I haven’t read the thread but if it’s under his name and he’s helping make payments then that’s his house lmfao
It ain’t gonna hurt your credit and if the monthly payment is the same as rent then why continue renting.
I know people that would kill for a 300k house

if they have a mortgage then nobody owns the home except the bank
it's not a blessing it's a headache.
OP's mom is selfish as f*** and didn't care about her son's financial stability to the point where she would be OK with saddling hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt upon him for herself. that is 100% financial abuse.
if they ruined their credit, guess what they're most likely gonna do to yours.

lol name checks out
Wtf….
Bro RUN !!
Take your credit card and all information regarding such around the house and get out!!!
I cant believe a mother would put her child in this position. I’m assuming your dad is not in your life since you didn’t mention him? @op

Privilege??
Ya are crazy, op is only 20 why are u talking like it's his responsibility to "help her out", even though it can seriously f*** him up
Having a house is a blessing, but don't dig urself in a hole to have one knowing it's not a smart decision

Exactly! My mother is going to build her credit and then use her credit to buy a house mater on down the line. So she's moved on from using my credit because I don’t make enough.
Just lay down the law, g
My mom is like this, too. Not even in a bad way, but she's def taken advantage of my financial security (even when I was like 20 and working at Chipotle going to school) and done s*** like what you're talking about. Almost got an eviction notice on my name forever because she put me down as a co-app because she couldn't get rent a place by herself.
Parents are very important and supporting them as best you can is a must, but not at the risk of the work you've put in.

I bet you refer to your mom as "mother"
