lol, if the only reason for this is that she doesn't want an apartment, you better make her get an apartment
if its a case of homeless vs not homeless its different ig
If it's homeless or not homeless, renting an apartment is still the right decision rather than buying a house.
So yall gon let OP's mom be homeless
This is a hard situation tbh, and it honestly sucks. I have no advice to give because I don't know your family situation and your relationship with your mom
She ain’t gotta be homeless. Tell her lil ass to get in an apartment
my mom knows better not to try this BS on me. She know I’d pistol whip my own momma out in traffic if she talk to me sideways.
Very good knowledge itt op much for me to add but I feel it’s imperative u spend your time finding another avenue for housing (albeit temporary or permanent) and NOT fall for a systematic trap.
TLDR; it his job to sell you on this credit line,
It’s your moms jobs to have housing for y’all, & it’s your job to protect your future
As far as moms go, I would educate yourself online rq with what’s currently going on with mortgages and spread that info to her and hopefully she’ll realize the set up.
Also you don’t have to move, u got rights, s*** could get ugly but ima go hard for my 300,000
Lastly, ima homeowner n i know u can get something way better for much less, once again this nigga has a job to do. Do yours G💡

that's what i said
but if its house or homeless obv do house

Sure but this is a complete hypothetical, it's never buying a house vs. being homeless, there are apartments and complexes, all more reasonable options even if it was a situation where OP himself had to pay it.
His mother is guilt tripping him pretending it's either a house or being homeless, but there are obviously other, better options.
Moms is selfish af for not wanting to live in an apartment and trying to ruin your life in the process. I’m all for respecting parents but fk that, you gotta DIP op

😂🤣
@op
I made some stupid decisions in 2017 (I was 18) that STILL effect my credit today
It is so vital to start your adult life with a solid financial foundation, so to see people itt saying declare bankruptcy among other things is crazy out of touch
With finances ALWAYS take the legitimate route, it is never worth the risk because the consequences will hamper you for years to come
Ultimately you know your mothers character best, but from the information you've given us, even if the initial down-payment is a success, her own financial inaptitude is likely to cause issues down the line. Not only that, but it's unfair on you to have go off to college with the constant worry of if your mother is upkeeping her payments for a house that is a state away.
I think before you pursue professional legal and financial advice, you need to have a conversation with her about the implications of this. You have no chance of preventing this if you don't communicate, as a user said itt previously, just because you are stopping her from doing something doesn't mean you don't love her. This is such an unfair pressure to have placed on you at the age of 20, but before you even get into the financial specifics, you need to have a one-on-one with her. Transparency is key with stuff like this, there is no point hiding how you feel, you really gotta lay it all out for her
I hope everything works out for you fr
Thank you very insightful

UPDATE -
The mortgage lender told my mother my income is only $600 a month and too low and the interest would be $1700 a month.
So my mother is looking at using my grandmothers business and essentially “boosting” our income falsely.

you gotta disassociate yourself completely from this situation. go to college, pursue your dreams. help your mom out in the future when you are fiscally responsible
side note: you used to not want to say you were going to UVA next year in that other thread or is that someone else? glad you talking about it openly now
Your mom boujee and doesn’t want to stay in public housing or a shelter at the expense of your credit, she won’t even met you halfway and just get an apartment, it gotta be a house

Yea I didn’t want to say UVA but I figured it couldn’t hurt. This whole situation is crazy, I thought my mom had more sense than this.
