Idk if I like that Shigaraki is literally just being handed power up after power up.

That’s what the power of One for All does lmao

Alright HxH and FMB I can agree with but the rest are just good. Death Note especially fails left and right in the second half and Code Geass is hella wack after first season imo.

Also not talking bout DBZ. Talking about straight og Dragon Ball.

S*** is amazing start to finish even with filler

man i really likes Death Note when i first saw it as a kid, but it did not hold up so well on the rewatch. like just how comically sinister Light gets almost immediately after getting the Notebook had me dead lmfao. the end with Melo and Near used to be my fav, but i ain’t even make it that far this time

Deku basically inherited a superpower jukebox and you're complaining that his biggest rival has one to

His og quirk evolved too to a crazy point even before then just because he had a flashback with no actual good reason...

And he got all for one just recently, again handed to him it's not like he always had it. I just don't like how they went about this, it's natural for the antagonist to get stronger fir end game but he literally hasn't done anything to actual earn his new strength.

I already complained about how stupid Deku's power up were. Mangaka doesn't know how to organically give power ups rather than just handing out free s*** on a platter to the characters.

The ending for code Geass makes up for everything that happens before it.

Sure the 2nd half of Death Note isn't as good as the first, but it's not like the drop off was huge, it was still good and at least it didn't drag on for too long. Looking at it as a whole it's a really great show.

Deku’s power ups at least seems justified under the laws of that world and he still has to work to control it

  • Jun 23, 2020

Not really getting the hate tbh

Season 4 was dope as hell to me

I say that because although I wouldn't say Shigaraki has been handed EVERYTHING, i think his character being nurtured by the dr and AFO is a brilliant move. AFO has explained why he is so invested in the guy, so its not like its happening with no explanation. This story is about All Might and AFO's abilities as teachers/mentors to their proteges as much as it is Deku and Shigarakis story

Nurturing doesn’t mean putting everything on a silver platter.

Thee feeling I get for almost every single recent power up has been that there was nothing down by the actual character to achieve what they’ve received. Deku’s was the most egregious example, but all the villains just get quirk upgrades was poorly done, and adding in a dark backstory isn’t going to change that. Then current shigaraki, just gets power up then to justify him not having to put any effort into even learning the plethora of s*** he’s obtained in the power up is a quirk where he learns everything about the quirks he has.

I feel in the past there was an emphasis on the fact that even though they were being helped, Deku especially would have to work to master and actually use what was given. I don’t feel that anymore.

I get where you're coming from, and I agree to an extent. I think the reason it doesn't bother me as much is that Shigaraki being handled this way makes sense, as I wouldn't expect AFO to make things too hard on his protege and leave him failing up to chance. As we see, he does allow him to fail and struggle when need be, but when he was still out of prison he would have never let him actually get captured/defeated. When it comes to Deku, I still think hes fine. He may have all that power but its most likely gonna be unmastered until close to the endgame, so as long as he isnt using all his quirks flawlessly outta nowhere I'm okay.

Togas powerup was bullshit though no cap. With Tomura it makes sense to me at least cause he basically had the god of evil building him up. For me, Tomura is literally a human experiment by the dr and AFO, its something about his character I love. Hes as much a regular person as he is Frankenstein

So besides deku (which admittedly annoyed me but makes sense given the explanation of one for all as a quirk does) I actually didn’t have a problem with the power progression of shigaraki, toga and twice. I feel like the theme of the arc was liberation and what we saw was their quirks performing naturally when the constraints of society or their own traumas were removed or resolved.

They were also in basically an advanced training deathmatch with Machia right before their powerups

Pretty much every big Shonen series is hated towards the time that it’s running.

I remember when Naruto, Bleach and One Piece we’re running back in the day(well One Piece is still running), ppl would always argue that they’re s*** in comparison to the classic Shonen, like Yu Yu Hakusho and Dragon Ball. Now they’re just as respected.

I would argue that part 1 of Naruto is better than part 1 of DB, and that part 2 of Naruto is on par with the DBZ portion of DB.

Naruto is only hurt because it’s longer, so it has more mediocre arcs than DB; but I honestly think DBZ falls off after the Namek Saga.

YYH is one of my all time favorites, but I don’t think it’s on this caliber above all other Shonen. It’s mostly viewed as a GOAT due to it being part of ppl’s childhoods.

  • Season 5 should be pretty good. And I'm kind of shocked at the hate for Season 4, it's not that bad.
