Does it seem like mainstream music critics kinda fell off around 2016?

Obviously reviews don't matter too much besides being the occasional nudge to check out a new artist or maybe play something earlier than you planned to

But it does feel like in the post 2016 world the overwhelming chunk of albums that should get very average review reception end up getting extremely positive reviews

Many of these publications just throw a 10/10 or 9/10 on all sorts of average inoffensive albums

I guess in the same sense that mainstream journalism is washed, mainstream music journalism is washed too
