Theyâve already done 400k before but yes when your album costs $50 to buy thereâs naturally gonna be a decrease in sales, if it werenât for that they wouldâve 100% done more way than that, this is exactly what I expected this album in particular to do.
Shouldnât the album being $50 mean more streams since less people were able to purchase it? Or did the high price just mean the insane fanbase couldnât buy 10 copies each

they've never done well on streaming (in the US at least) and the album itself was only 8 tracks long (1 being a skit, 1 being an already released single) so expecting any high streams in the US for this album is a pipe dream lol.
$50 means the average fan during a pandemic of all times isn't as easily gonna be able to shell out money to buy a copy of the album, especially when some people were literally waiting to see if they would release a cheaper version to buy. I'm surprised they were even able to reach the #'s they did with this one, that's a very large amount of people buying an album that costs $50 (even more so when you factor in how much they did in their own country).
to add on, people do not really buy albums to listen to them regardless, they buy them (especially in BTS' case because of it coming with photocards, a photobook, ect) as a piece of merchandise, so I'm not sure why you'd assume there would be an increase of streams because of that.... lol

If people donât buy albums to listen to them then naturally we should only pay attention to streaming numbers then, right? Are you saying BTS doesnât do well on streaming because they donât have many fans compared to someone like Lil Baby?

no because albums sales always have and always will be an important metric? I can understand the argument for the hot 100, though I disagree but for the top 200? lmao.
and no, high pure sales have always translated to high core fanbase numbers? (seeing as the American GP doesn't buy albums anymore, literally only fans), can you point me to where lil baby sells out stadiums? or where his merch constantly sells out? his high social media engagements? he has a lot of American GP support (which is what streaming translates to as a result of trends in music consumption and is very impressive in itself). BTS aren't gonna have American GP support because they're a boy band singing in Korean, they have 2 things going against them of which the American GP does not like. Regardless, for a Korean boyband their songs do well enough on streaming in the US.
edit: forgot to mention this but they also have a WAY higher number of followers than lil baby does on spotify (25 million vs 5 million), so that further explains what I'm talking about (GP support/appeal). Much higher monthly listeners as well though that's not really an important metric for what we're discussing imo. BTS also has quite bad playlisting for the most part (dynamite was an exception though that's because it was in english).
I mean, do you think 24kgoldn has a bigger fanbase than BTS because mood is one of the biggest streaming forces WW atm?

i know he's a plant but you can't artificially generate a #1 can you? How much of the success is genuine and what else is because the labels?

lot's of play-listing. The song is mostly doing so well as a result of radio play in the US atm, though it's streaming numbers are also quite good.
the song itself is kinda bigger than Iann Dior/24kgoldn themselves tbh.
yeah she was really on top of the world with Bangerz, kinda wild how quickly that all changed with dead petz.
album is decent though.

Omg no
Had this been late 2000s, early 2010s Miley wouldâve done solid numbers
This confirms what Iâve been saying for the longest, most of these pop stars donât have any real longevity
They depend heavily on pure sales & radio play but now itâs all streaming
I feel like streaming exposes if youâre really popping or not

Because itâs being shoved in everyoneâs throats
They remind me of Bazzi lol
BTS has far more loyal supporters/fans

Can't compare song numbers to album numbers. But if you asked random Americans off the street which artists they consider themselves fans of, I 100% believe more people would say yes to an artist like Lil Baby whose albums do big streaming numbers than pop artists whose albums flop on streaming

katy perry the biggest victim of the streaming era

Sheâs the first artist to get exposed
I canât help but feel like Gaga, Bieber & everyone else tip toeing on that thin line of being washed & irrelevant

Gaga still has die-hard stans that think its 2009. Katy Perry didnt have stans. she had everybody that listened to radio. and that was a huge market then.
Roc nation cooked these streams
