Tropes aren't inherently negative and constant innovation is not always good.
South Korean revenge thrillers have had alot of classics while maintaing the same basic ingredients.
I never said it’s inherently bad. It becomes bad when you have a plethora of movies that repeat those tropes without adding anything new to the film.

Again it's a huge genre and the biggest films are all the ones pushing forward.
Three of the biggest horror films this year feature am all black family and orginal movie monsters,bright and sunny horror film and a black and white one set in a light house.
