I feel like niggas saying this are wrong tho Yes TPAB had its detractors. But there are people like me - who recognized TPAB as a classic when it dropped - who don't fw Mr Morale this time. That's a lot more people who need convincing on an album that isn't really a joy to sit through. It's always going to be seen as a tier below his other albums imo

you say this like all his albums are “a joy to sit through”. kendrick has always been an acquired taste. when its all said and done mr morale prolly gonna be seen as his most important album because it’s a look into his mental state at this moment and not when he was 16 or trying to pander to critics

People said the album was mid and it’s “agenda driven critique”

Remove all mentions of cancel culture from N95

    Remove We Cry Together

Remove Purple Hearts or at least get SZA ffs

Add more lines on Crown about the role he himself played in us having this perfect idea of him in our heads

Remove Auntie Diaries (the message is pretty unnecessary in this album. Where else does acceptance of LGBT+ feature on here?)

    Remove Mr Morale (horrible song)

Show more remorse for cheating on Mother I Sober. Don't expose your wife's and mother's skeletons to show the world your own imperfections. Don't blame your infidelity with white women on slavery, or at least save it for a different song

Remove verse addressing Noname on Mirror (she had a point. Cole and Kendrick both took an L in how they addressed it)

Add Prayer (maybe keep cancel culture talk on N95 to emphasize this theme)

    Maybe add The Heart 5

If he did all this, Mr. Morale is possibly an 8/10 album for me

We can’t call an album mid now

    Touché.

    @DiorRunners

    I’m talking more artistry based.

It’s a LOT of classic albums from the 90s that if recieved by today’s audience woulda been deemed as too preachy and boring.

(E.g. doo wop is a club hit.)

I feel like I've seen people call It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back preachy mid from early Internet rap forums, but I get what you mean

Critics slammed the album, fans slammed the album, social media slammed the album.

    A Drake fan: “Mid Morale”
    Edwhatever: “agenda driven critique”

Idk. Like people are saying, the content is very good and personal. It’s just the way it was laid out production wise on some things.. left something to be desired. I feel like typically he has a very good blend of both worlds. An album can be important without being his best
