Stupid ass question but why have a pre order for the beta? Why not just open beta?

so that more ppl preorder who may not have otherwise. other than just being a sales metric, preorder #s are important in the gaming industry

Preorder Betas help companies see about how much money they will get at launch. yes of course many will cancel but its better than 0 incentive to preorder because they know people dont like preordering s*** anymore. Especially with the bigger move to digital. When it was physical only preordering made more sense because you could face situations where s*** would sell out or only be available to preorder customers lol

Yeah early 2000s games even at big box stores would genuinely sell out. Big box stores like Target never do preorders so its the simplicity of being able to walk in or have it shipped to your home.
