    fun guy

Did you not listen to Heart Pt 6? Drake explains that he could've exposed him further but chose not to. The beef was burnt tf out at that point and he didn't want to drag things on any longer. Plus, he genuinely felt bad for Kendrick. History will be kind to Drake when people realize the absurdness of Kendrick's lies during the beef, however.

fair point. if kendrick does some crazy s*** like hold an entire f*** drake concert or call him a pedophile at the super bowl though, i think that would be a good time to drop the evidence.

  • Yeah the problem is Drake should’ve had more poise and really took more time after NLU. If you’re going to bow out there’s better ways to do it. Sounded like a whimper in the midst of a parade.

  • Noir

Drake had the edge after FM, then MTG blew that away an hour later. He stomped on Drake’s neck with NLU and it was over.

It wasn’t a tie going into NLU. FM just kept it close enough that, if he had proof of what he said about Whitney, he could still pull a rabbit out of his hat and win the beef. NLU and especially the awfulness of THP6 made that not matter.

Was always going to be tough cause it wasn’t a real battle

UMG deployed Kendrick like a grunt in an effort to remove him from music and keep him in line

More akin to an attempted assassination

So you’re saying you would’ve called it one song earlier. Even if you want to say that, it was still the best battle ever and was competitive and exciting on both sides.

But also if MTG did the job, Kendrick wouldn’t have dropped NLU. No one without bias thinks MTG blew Family Matters away: that was a highly competitive round, both are legendary tracks.

I know for a lot of nerds MTG was the moment, but I think a lot of that was the timing, which was great, and the reliving of Story of Adidion, and just a certain type of rap fan jumping out the window about it. To me, I had felt like I already heard that song before, but the best line to me was “LeBron keep the family away, curry keep the family away” that was a pretty crazy punch.

The exact moment Kendrick won was when he hit the “send it to pac” flow on Not Like Us. Any other opinion is fully irrelevant and can never matter. He rung his bell and knocked him on the ground with that, that was the moment we were waiting for in the battle. It is really sad that bias has ruined the moment so much

You might have a point but we were all waiting on it and at that point in the battle, timing mattered a lot. Things were dropping every day. Short term it got him a lot of hate but I think he decided to end it there and say his piece.

I think Drake definitely knew something we don't. RocNation, corporate America, the deep state; it's possible they would've tried to get him whacked if he went too far.

Everyone thought he was washed lol. The way history repeated itself from the Jay and Nas battle is kind of insane, you couldn’t write it more perfect. In both battles the winner was coming off a weak fourth album to reclaim their status

I think if it had ended one song earlier, it would have been a more debatable Jay vs Nas scenario where people are still discussing it years later, and the consensus favoring the one with the more direct attack over the more scattered Family Matters à la Ether vs Takeover.

NLU made it a very clear victory for one side.

the mariah carey bar in the heart part 6 is prolly the most insane s*** either of them said during that whole battle

  • ChosenOne90

"It's Tu-Not, knocked out the box and got rocked
Got raped on the Island, you officially got"-Havoc to 2pac

"Slugs hit your chest, tap your spine, flatline
Heard through the grapevine, you got f***ed fo' times
Damn, that three-to-nine f***ed you up for real though"-Biggie to 2pac

"Your daddy f***ed your momma, then f***ed your sister
Then climbed in your bed, playing with your s***ter"-50 Cent to The Game

    that last one is insane

No it doesn’t actually. Sure, if you’re a prisoner of the moment. No one cares in retrospect that Kendrick was MIA for a few weeks when Drake was baiting him. At the time it was jokes all over. Not worth it to respond within a day with a song like Heart 6.

    That was a bar idgaf.

I don’t like that people clutched their pearls about that angle. Kendrick said what he said about Drake so I don’t see how flipping the mother I sober on him s*** was out of line

Everyone jumped to say he misunderstood the song but he really didn’t, sometimes part of a battle is framing something a little bit different than reality and it wasn’t a stretch at all. People act like the song was only about Kendrick’s mother but it was about Kendrick too and had implications. And the “oh that’s why this the s*** you obsessed with” wasn’t a bad flip at all

Cherry picking bars is never the wave but also the song is uncomfortable. Drake is uncomfortable in it. I’m not saying it was the best way to win a battle or anything, it seemed more like it was trying to end it. I think people are really sensitive to cringe in the modern era but that’s never me, I’m not a little b**** who cries about biggie saying he would suck on her daddy’s d***. That s*** always been corny. I’m also not gonna defend every stance Drake took but it was a well rapped song from a rapper in a very difficult and defensive situation. Idk I think a lot of yall just don’t respect actual human emotion or imperfection

    ....

we just don't think it's a good bar in a song it's nothing about anyone feeling uncomfortable lolololol. you projecting some other s***

    this is projection

most people know that biggie line is a richard pryor reference and we joke about it to diss new yorkers because they like to "pause" everything.

Other vaginal option is still more clever than Drake randomly calling The Weeknd’s music gay after attacking Kendrick Lamar for two minutes straight

    Yea no he misinterpreted

“That’s that one record where you say you got molested”

    He literally didn’t say that.

Neither were particularly clever but both were funny

i'm not sure what argument you're trying to make, but it is an established fact that kendrick knew drake was going to lie about his family so he made MTG to disarm him. not much to debate on that topic.

So he disarmed him by also lying? Lol wtf
