Still not sure he’s gonna capture that same feeling he had from his early material but Miguel’s voice is still probably top 5 in R&B. New martyrs And always time are the most kaleidoscope dream sounding songs here
Lmao literally the exact same sentiments at the same time

Man it’s like it’s good, but something is missing can’t put my finger on it. Used to listen to Miguel albums and off first listen there would be like 5 songs I knew would be in my top played of the year. Not so much with war and leisure and this though
S*** is fire I can’t lie
Feels like a movie

Its not really R&B anymore for me
Its more artistic and harder to digest
Cool, but not something I can see myself just vibing to
He just seems to be in a very different space
I really liked this. That said I think the Caos angle could have been pushed a little harder, sonically. But I appreciate what we've got. He figured out how to incorporate latin sounds into his overall pallate so effectively, not in a pandering way at all. I like the grungy undertones & the electronics too, I just think they can be pushed harder, again.
What I miss about what we got in regards to Viscera is that it was willing to go there. I really appreciate the vulnerability here in general & incorporating socio-political topics in everything. Miguel is a real artist & hes been doing stuff like this in an alt way longer than the more traditional rnb s*** at this point. Its for the better. The last 3 songs are among some of the strongest hes ever written because he balances those aspects.

Is there a recording of the Viscera experience live show? Curious about the material he played there that isn’t on here

I think it was only like two songs tbh. That whole performance/experiment was so disappointing.
I think the songs were rope and one more I can’t remember. I had screen recorded them I’ll try to find it. He also had played always time

He said this in that Broken Record interview but some of that stuff was repackaged into this one. Triggered is a good example. Even reading other interviews around that time before he decided to pull back you could see he was going for more of an edge, even subject matter wise. It seemed like it was going to be more Yeezus-y, take Number 9 for example

Rip one of my favs so far
gotta return to this but the first like 5 songs were just straight up pretty damn bad to me, feels like the sound of this might have been interesting 5-6 years ago, parts of this feel like a way worse retread of wildheart
