Quitting a job without having anything lined up in 2024 is genuinely one of the dumber things you could ever do

Not as dumb as my friend who quit in November

why dont you take a couple days off / vacation before you make any decisions. Quitting and not having another gig lined up is not smart.

This. Gotta have an exit strategy man

  • I know how you feel b, I had the exact same set up. Job was paying 55k but it was like 50 hours a week and just an ass chap of a job

I found dropping to part time after the first year made it less aids. Ive kept applying to other joints and now I think I may go back to school. I never quit just bc Ive put in probably a thousand+ applications since I started this f***er and i've never closed on another spot, so thats probably indicative of how f***ed I'd be if I left

  • 25k salary for a horse s*** job...not talking down, but I'd drop that mf for a minimum wage joint that doesn't get too much traffic breh.

Like Nike outlet around my way gives you like 10 hourly out the gate last I checked. You're getting about 13 with this

Is this before or after taxes cause working minimum wage 9-5 5 days a week pays you $28k+ a year on most of the east coast.

So 25k for a “professional job” sounds insane unless it’s an entry-level/internship type position in your field that you’ll have a lot of professional mobility from.

It’s hard to know what you should do without knowing your whole situation

    Unfortunately, it’s $25k before taxes 🥹

I work for a print media outlet, went to school for comms if that helps w context.

Tbh I lowkey knew what I was getting into and took the L on pay to get the experience

Go on indeed and apply to every job related to your current and your major.

25k a year is absurd, that’s $12hr for 40hrs week. I’d be sick paying someone that much for any serious full time roll

I debated asking for two weeks off today, but I’d technically be working still since I have a project due the week right after. I’m also not sure they’ll grant my request since it’s a bit last minute

dont know if they will approve unless you try

    $25K? you're a victim my man

  • Sep 27, 2024

It might not be a quitters economy but for 25k it is

  • Sep 27, 2024

I strongly believe in paying my dues and not being a quitter. But if there is no chance of career growth/no PTO and I’m only getting 25k. Please QUIT. You are young with not much to lose. Even if this isn’t the smartest decision, will it really be the worst one you ever made?

Don’t do it man you’ll regret it trust me. Go inwards, meditate. And when you sleep, really let yourself and your mind go. Sleep on your left side, it clears out the psyche, chemically speaking.

Don’t let yourself down. What doesn’t kill you eventually makes you stronger no movie cap

I’ve been sleeping on my right side this whole time

Don’t quit, let them fire you, collect unemployment (easier said than done depending on the state), get paid while looking for a different gig

As a huge Drake fan if you don’t know your PTO policy you probably don’t get any

Usually jobs want you to request off two weeks ahead of time but for 25k I’m requesting off whenever I feel like it

Bro I gave her two weeks heads up and she f***ing denied the time off request

Yall am I being played with right now?

How I’m such a key person when everyone else on the team making more than me and I’m being given a stopgap salary with the promise of a raise later?

You're more of a key person because you get paid less/are more exploitable

As a huge Drake fan how badly do you want time off? She’s giving you an out here to still take it but have one week unpaid but still two weeks off, I would personally lie and say my granny is in the hospital or some s*** to get them off my d*** (sorry granny)

Bro I’m hip, she gave me the out, but then she sent a bunch of texts about how I’m putting the team in a scramble and that if it’s next month it would be much easier for them

And I f***ed folded like a punk and said ok “how about Nov.8-15”

Yeah.. your manager is playing victim. Did you finish all your projects and have a handoff plan for someone else to cover for you in the interim?

Anyways, I strategically I wouldn't of done two weeks off consecutively. If I were you, I would of taken another week of halloween to take off then the week leading up to or after thanksgiving. OR just take Fridays and Mondays off for a couple weeks.

Pls find a new job ASAP.
