    Gabe Newell Responds:

We're happy that Microsoft wants to continue using Steam to reach customers with Call of Duty when their Activision acquisition closes. Microsoft has been on Steam for a long time and we take it as a signal that they are happy with gamers reception to that and the work we are doing. Our job is to keep building valuable features for not only Microsoft but all Steam customers and partners.

Microsoft offered and even sent us a draft agreement for a long-term Call of Duty commitment but it wasn't necessary for us because a) we're not believers in requiring any partner to have an agreement that locks them to shipping games on Steam into the distant future b) Phil and the games team at Microsoft have always followed through on what they told us they would do so we trust their intentions and c) we think Microsoft has all the motivation they need to be on the platforms and devices where Call of Duty customers want to be.

If cod doesnt release on Playstation that might mean the death of the franchise so really no1 wins

i really am missing the angle from MSFT in not just ensuring that COD is on Playstation for life. like Gamepass is their long term bet and play anyway, so why does exclusivity even matter.

yk what i mean. i just don't get their angle is all. unless Sony doesn't want to allow gamepass on the playstation, which would make sense i guess

Literally nothing about this deal is anti consumer and Microsoft is actively making Sony look crazy . Or Sony is making themselves look crazy with their arguments

Microsoft is pretty much ensuring cod will be on PlayStation regardless . A 10 year deal is kinda wild and anything past that is improbable so Sony is looking odd rn. Xbox simply wants to add a lot more money into their pockets by simultaneously owning these IP’s and growing the Xbox infrastructure.

“The commitment wasn’t necessary, Phil and the games team at Microsoft has always followed through on what they told us they would do” is a massive statement

CoD is one of the main reason people pay for PS+

You take away CoD, then you take a huge chunk of multiplayer gamers who would want to play with their friends so they instead decide to buy an Xbox.

Also, even tho Sony creates some of the best single player games ever made, it kinda sucks at making mutliplayer games tbh lol.
