Oh my god read the f***ing article bro he has a statement I’m just saying he’s not promoting his movie

He concluded the statement by saying that “I Swear,” “more than any film or TV documentary, explains the origins, condition, traits and manifestations of Tourette Syndrome.”

Why would he be sorry for something outside of his control

This is very clearly the narrative he’s trying to work against

Even the black actor w Tourette’s in the movie did not make any attempt to explain the dudes actions in his own statement

because whether or not it was in his control it's still something that he did and the pain he caused was real

  • I was like 👀👀 through that article looking for some acknowledgement of the two individuals who faces dropped and by the end of reading i was like

Did. done. Still no apology. Now you anti blacks can f*** off.

  • Lol I see more people defending the racist Tourette's man more than sympathizing with the brother’s subjected to the s***.

That “apology” is just awful too. Either he has more brain dead conditions we’re unaware of or he just aint f***ing with the idea of apologizing to those guys for what happened.

Idc what condition he has, that’s the least he could do…

    Let me stop though.

He aint gon get it/just gon be dismissive entirely

  • He should apologize to the other people he shouted at too

Variety structured it terribly in the most click baity way to avoid the central question of his message to those he offended besides “ I hope you don’t think the worst q of me “

Apologizing never hurts, hows Mexico going rn?

  • The visceral reaction on screen that only a certain demographic can relate to is something only that demographic can relate to and everyone else around is gonna act like, “bro just let it go” because…well they cant relate to a feeling every nigga has had to feel before.

@FREE was right, african americans really dont have any allies frfr

i get all this and agree with it in theory

but i think when something you've said has become a breaching point into (clearly, lol, look at some of these takes) a lot of peoples first look into how tourettes can affect you and hurt others, it wouldn't undo any of his advocacy to say sorry + explain that the condition intrinsically makes him say slurs, hateful things, offensive things, shocking things and things he does not believe.

he could've said it in a way that doesn't cedes any ground to people claiming he's racist and idk in a way that still offers people understanding

He concluded the statement by saying that “I Swear,” “more than any film or TV documentary, explains the origins, condition, traits and manifestations of Tourette Syndrome.”

his attitude shows he views his words as separate from himself, which is important for someone with tourette’s

to him, it doesn’t make sense to apologize, because even though they were his words, he doesn’t view them as a reflection of himself

i do think unintentional damage should be apologized for, but i also understand the stance of “i will not apologize for my disability”. it’s just, with something this big, maybe it’s okay to make an exception and use it to teach people about tourette’s in the process.

he basically decided not to apologize for his disability, but clarified his words aren’t him

It’s like he fears saying sorry is an admission of guilt or intent .he needed a great pr person to understand what needed to be said and he clearly doesn’t have it. If he did he wouldn’t be in the situation without accommodations in first place

You dont stop huh? Now its varietys fault for the lack of apology.

Its everyone elses fault, its black peoples fault, its varietys fault, yes blame everyone else for the lack of apology except the guy whos very capable of simply apologizing...

i was making better defences than him i still stand by all that i said and the nature of defending people with tourettes from the words they say and the context (or lack thereof) in which the say them, but yeah he struck out with this one

At the end of the day he’s going to be apologizing for his disability, if he ever does issue an apology in the sense people are looking for. We don’t have to sugarcoat that
