Ima be all the way a hundo @ShintaroKago I apologize if anything I said came off abelist or violent towards Davidson earlier itt, hearing/seeing the brothas react triggered me to hell.

I do still hope in private he apologizes to them and also BAFTA apologizes to all 3 of them for basically throwing them all under the bus.

i agree there were def plenty of things that could've been done to prevent this from happening by bafta and the guy himself

but im not educated enough on tourettes, is shouting that out loud common? can he not help the volume at which he verbalises his tics?

From the documentaries I've watched about Tourettes, verbal outbursts can be like a cough or sneeze. Kinda sudden/unexpected, but there are things that can specifically trigger a tic.

My thing is...it was two Black men on stage accepting an award for a movie partly about racism that caused him to specifically start shouting the N word...? Who was bud around that taught him these slurs for specific groups of people? I ain't hear anything about him shouting homophobic or anti-semitic slurs at queer or Jewish actors. Very convenient.

See I really don’t see any benefit from keeping it private

If there’s no awareness that he NEVER apologized that’ll set back people with Tourettes for a long ass time. He’s one of the biggest advocates for the condition and by never putting it out there that no harm was meant in what was said, it just leaves people to infer that he doesn’t feel remorseful at all. Of course that’ll be invalidated if MBJ or Lindo come out and say an apology was given, they’re good, etc.

I get it don’t clog baftas thread but how constructive do you think many of the users on this thread have been ? Some openly admitting to never reading an article , s*** posting memes. Calling for his death or violence on him . Calling him r word . He can’t apologize on video because of risk of tics . He can’t type it but then people will question that he didn’t type it. Internet memeing and joking about it including “ sinners going to sweep Oscar’s now” “ if I say anything offensive I will just say Tourette’s acting up “ . I am saying the people who directly experienced it deserve the apology most before the public . The baftas choose not to cut that moment or provide accommodations . He should have left the room . We can go through all that but many will demonize him public apology or not . I’ve seen death threats calling him racist all of that . The public is uneducated focus on the direct people in the room more than second hand offense

Even in their statement they released this morning, they neglected to apologize to both actors.

This is such a stupid argument. Even if you don't use them, who doesn't know slurs in 2026? If someone with coprolalia watches one Tarantino movie, that's suddenly an indictment of their learned vocabulary?

I respect your obvious reading disability, so I'll bold what I said that's relevant to what your dumbass must've missed:

Whether people like to accept it or not, that s*** is definitely learned. Now whether it was intentionally taught to him, or it's something he picked up from the environment or people he grew up around, is another story.

I don’t think this is his fault..but he should apologize for the situation regardless. And he should do it sooner than later. Based on that clip about him avoiding movie theaters since he was 10 and trying to isolate himself.. I can not imagine what he’s feeling and I hope he’s staying off the internet to the best of his ability. But this is a time-sensitive issue and he’s not the only one hurting from last night.

But why even frame the disbelief? You're clearly trying to edge around the fact he may be racist. Saying it's learned is obvious, WE LEARN WORDS. What a f***ing revelation, buddy.

  • XANTA

He CAN'T control what he says its literally like having someone in your own body forcibly making you say s***
Lets not s*** on him for what he CANT control

Yea it's like people with tourettes who yell "BOMB" at an airport or "DROWNING" at the beach. Them knowing that's the absolute worst thing to say in that scenario basically makes them say it

"I was telling myself in my head before don't say bomb. When you try to suppress Tourette's, it comes out even worse," said Michael Doyle. - abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2013/04/man-with-tourettes-syndrome-banned-from-flight-after-saying-bomb
