it was prerecorded and they conveniently made sure to edit out someone saying free palestine before it aired but not this.
BBC said this morning it would be edited out in the vod LMAO
If it was pre-recorded and aired, then that’s obviously gross incompetence on BBC and whoever was responsible for editing should be fired.
There’s really not enough information (that I’ve seen).
Were the network/BAFTAS made aware of this possibility and fail to take the proper precautions (increasing audio delay, etc)? If they were aware and it was discussed in an official capacity prior to the event, then it’s fully on them.
If the person with Tourette’s or their representative failed to bring up the need for established reasonable accommodations prior to the event, then it’s on them.
the BAFTAs were fully aware & even warned the audience that he had this type of tourette’s
the show was not live-streamed, so they could’ve edited it out. they actually edited out a “free Palestine” but left this in the replay
the BAFTAs tried to be inclusive without any necessary accommodations, which resulted in disaster
there are plenty if you know their ethnic backgrounds, they’re just more specific
But what if you don’t
But what slur would say for a white person?
Cracker?
I mean man that isn’t really a slur most white people react negatively to that degree
Cracker comes from cracking the whip
Telling someone they have control is only so insulting . Besides protocols of Zion antisemitism . Most don’t get offended when you say “ you are powerful” . He may go for other attributes like if they fat ugly anything offensive
But with white people he less likely to have something offensive to say because they created the slurs in their favor
After conducting a thorough evaluation of what happened, it’s clear the fault lies solely with the BBC/BAFTA crew.
It’s reported that Davidson had multiple outbursts during the show prior to this incident. A line has to be drawn, even when you are trying to create an inclusive environment for everyone.
The BAFTAs are also broadcast on a tape delay. So this should have been removed from the show. It’s obvious that a clip like this would go viral. Not editing out this, but editing out Akinola Davies’ “free Palestine” comment is unacceptable.
I did some reading about Tourettes since I know little about it, and I learned more about Davidson’s past. I feel bad for him because Tourettes is so debilitating. I feel bad for Jordan and Lindo because there’s no way you can really address what was said without being a d***, even though it’s humiliating in the moment.
I saw the BBC publicly apologized for airing the comment, but I still feel like it’s not enough. Hopefully all three make amends.

They weren't streamed live. 2 hour delay

Yeah, then it’s fully on them. And this poor guy getting globally trashed is like the worst possible outcome for the Tourette’s community I’m sure.

I believe its all about what is socially taboo, culturally disturbing or upsetting, and these are the things that the person will say involuntarily and without a moment to think. and so for a white person in a white room, there isn't much intrinsic to whiteness to say that would be societally taboo. if they're ugly or short or fat, they'd say something about that.

No apology has been issued as of this moment, if it was not done in private
Based on what Lindo has said, no one has said anything to either him or MBJ since the incident
Wow yeah that's pretty f***ed. I understand that he can't control it, but I feel like an apology is warranted at the very least. That's not too much to ask right?
I asked the same question @SOLARIS did hours ago, you said he yelled out while other people were on stage too. I asked you what he yelled out for them, you stopped replying
It's not stupid to wonder why the slur happened to be race related for them, especially if they weren't for the other people he yelled at
it was race related for them because his brain realized that would be worse to say than whatever he might’ve said if it was white people on stage instead. that’s how it works.

I said he told her to shut up , told the kids movie awards winner f*** you . Do you understand you have access to Google just like I do and I don’t want to personally feed you the news because you can’t be bothered to google search or read an article ?
“A number of outbursts could be heard throughout the BAFTA ceremony, including “shut the f*** up” being shouted during an introductory speech from BAFTA chair Sara Putt and “fuck you” when the directors of “Boong,” which won the BAFTA for best children’s and family film, accepted their award. “
Should I have to spark notes for everyone on mobile because you can’t make the effort to google read one link and be informed on what you are speaking on ?

My solution.. Delroy, MBJ, and Davidson put out a joint statement condemning bafta and bbc.. highlighting their disgust and disappointment.

That would require Davidson to reach out, which i havent seen anywhere he's done..
