There are literally black people WITH tourettes. Imagine having that AND being black. A lot of people were trying to genuinely inform others about this condition and just get called anti-black, not knowing that a black person could have the very same condition and essentially just dismissing all their struggles.

I can't stop thinking about the clip of the black woman with tourettes and the s*** she has to go through on a daily basis smh

She got harassed off the internet . I think calling people that directly work with or have these conditions anti black is counter productive. Focus should always be on bbc . Glad he privately apologized or attempted to do so . All the information we know now there is no reason that the condition itself should be a punchline by SNL . Deon Cole punchline just drags it out longer but it is what it is

The ones who got called anti-black were the ones trying to tell black ppl how to feel. Yall keep ignoring facts and trying to paint black people as villains. Crazy.

I’m black myself but w/e. I feel like theres a lot of assumptions being made ITT where anyone who doesn’t share the exact same viewpoint must not be black and/or should just be seen as an enemy to black people (Also: Not in this thread but in this forum as a whole there’s undertones that anyone that isnt black AND american, isn’t actually black but that’s a whole other discussion I’m not tryna have rn).

It’s funny you say that last part because the painting I see being done is literally what you are saying in the first part of your post. There was a lot of individuals who weren’t informed about tourettes in the first half of this thread (some still aren't) and the discussion essentially went like this

    • A tries to inform B about tourettes
    • B disagrees and assumes they are racist/anti-black

Now, to say that no one was being anti-black would be untrue because I did see quite a few people say s*** like “why would you want to make a disabled person apologise for being disabled” essentially trying to create a scenario where saying the N word can be justified but I feel like those posters were a lot fewer than the misinformed ones saying that he should be chained to a basement.

As for me, never said anything anti-black here. First thing I said was that BBC was tryna run a play. I feel like UK has gotten even more racist over the years, just a few weeks ago some white woman said that seeing black people on TV “drives her mad”. The rest of my posts ITT is me being shocked about how misinformed people are about tourettes or shocked about how bad the apologies were around this.

They're so mad about Deon Cole making a lil joke at Tourette's man expense.

Dude made a whole documentary about having to deal with white people beating and harassing him most of his life for his disability. I think he can handle "If you have Tourette's, you might want to leave the room".

You know...something that he could've and probably should've done in the first place to avoid all this.

But ya know, it's Black people who are more evil and wrong for being upset about being called the N word.

There has definitely been some who have tried to share information about Tourette’s from a well intentioned standpoint.

But there’s been plenty of condescending pricks completely dismissing how black people feel about this matter. Lmao one who even said “you are parasocial if you care this much about what happened to MBJ/Delroy”

The “Sinners only got made due to DEI and now is winning awards cus of cancel culture” arguments
