Just a joy to be reacquainted with all the music and live performances
now go watch the live world tours
Honestly liked it a little better the second time
Issues still stand but the highs hit even higher
might try again 4dx/dbox
What surprises me most about MJ story is how long he lived with his family. Doing Jackson 5 tours post Thriller is insanity
Joe Jackson said u a millionaire but u nut need a yard get that later wonder what would've happened if he never moved out might've been no allegations don't see Joe jack letting him chill with kids in the Jackson household
wonder how big of a presence this will have at the Oscars
none they missed the slot will be a whole year til oscars by which time other things will be up for all the big noms don't see it winning anything tbh afar for an Oscar in part 2 tho (if written better n flows better n is a better film ingeneral)
It wasn’t bad, but it’s abundantly clear that Fuqua was not the man for this.
THIS ABUNDANTLY
The original film sounds like it would've been quite interesting. By all accounts it starts with the 1993 Neverland strip search, before going to a Jaafar voiceover of the early moments of Michael's life. The film seemed to end with a Heal The World HIStory Tour performance, but the script was actually quite dark and the Lionsgate exec said he couldn't believe the Estate had approved it. I think the film included several infamous Chandler money grab moments - moments Chandler's had written about in their own book (why they admitted to these is still beyond me).
Fast forward a 'lil later and they realised nothing about the 1993 accusations could be dramatised, which were most of the film. The MJ Estate has to pick up the entire reshoot cost (roughly 20 days in mid 2025), and a new target date of April is set. Diana Ross then requests not to be in the film, which means a large part of Plan B is also scrapped.
It's a bit of a miracle they managed to salvage something for the film we have.
I think Antoine said they'll have some usable footage (specifically Another Part Of Me from the Bad Tour, and the 1993 Superbowl). But it depends what timeframe do you pick up from? What story do they tell? Given 1993 is off the table, it'll make it very difficult.
interesting now that film would've slapped
When I first saw it last Wednesday I couldn't believe it
Saw it twice that day and even on the second watch it didn't drag once
oh u said 'nothing else in tv/YouTube/netflix/cinemas is an option I'm only watching Michael'
how many times u seen it?
Apparently the home release is in June
and they are going to re-release the entire catalog
Including HIStory on vinyl
they need to rerelease his concerts into imax the bumbaclarts need that 4dx box 3d deluxe edition
Been thinking about picking up Off The Wall, Thriller, and Bad snice they’re kind of cheap rn but if this rerelease has some cool variants I may hold off
I know Target had an exclusive red pressing of Number Ones so I wonder if they or anyone else will do something for his albums
DO IT heard off the wall on vinyl last week that s*** was so beautiful
@KingOfPop @op
https://twitter.com/discussingfilm/status/2049642173293797802NOOOOOO ANTGONE F***BOI GONNA F*** IT PART 2
I’m wanting that full on Steve Jobs esque Thriller biopic more and more every day tbh, make that s*** a buddy biopic between Michael and Quincy
Use the same cast from Michael too f*** it
YESSSS
Saw it again for the 3rd time, the music sequences hit like crazy but it’s almost too basic at points.
The rest of the family barring Joe are basically stand in, the only way you know who people are from what they are wearing & even then, there’s SO much left out.
From the Wiz to Mike’s relationship with his brothers to Diana Ross to him being raised as a Jehovah’s Witness to his creative process - there’s way too little & could’ve been way longer.
I repeat again, WE NEED THE DIRECTOR’S CUT!!!
THIS
Imagine they would put in everything that happened in his life. The movie would be 10 hours long lmao
n id have pulled that all-nighter no probs
I don't think people truly acknowledge just how good Jaafar's performance is here. He's getting credit but not enough.. I've known and studied MJ for such a long time.. and he just nails it. It's just insanity
yh bro was cookie
OT
Thinking about great Michaels I wonder who would be able to play Michael Jordan in a biopic
michael b jordan
give her the ££ but she was barely in it liponsgate f***ed up that's on them they gotta take the financial loss
oh u said 'nothing else in tv/YouTube/netflix/cinemas is an option I'm only watching Michael'
how many times u seen it?
I've seen it four times so far.
What could be a good discussion about the film, the sequel or it's continued box office success is now low IQ bullshit.
Great.
