It’s kind of crazy seeing the same debates from early 2000s ,2010,2019 when neverland doc dropped occurring all over again . It’s dystopian in a way especially for someone who saw court and died . At a time where Weinstein , Diddy , Epstein , ghislaine all go down but their clients aren’t held accountable

Seeing many from all groups wanting to hate on MJ or wanting this movie to be everything . How would they market a movie that ends in allegations with children ? Nor do I think our society is mature enough to take it seriously when we saw it in a punchline in a beef , no Diddy jokes and Epstein ai memes .

I don’t think biopic should be worshipping or sanitization while at the same time how dark of a movie would part 2 be if it’s him calling out the industry , sleeping next to children and ending in his death .

How perverse would it be to hype and sell that . To relive that and the arguments that come with it for financial value

Who knows where this goes next . Sorry just saw people arguing all over Twitter again

I will say though man, apologies if this isn't new info to you, but the original script planned to open with MJ looking in the mirror at Neverland while police lights flashed in the background and we hear audio about him being arrested, it was gonna directly address the allegations, but then, far into production, it was discovered that as part of the original legal settlement, it was forbidden to dramatise the allegations or trial at all, so a lot of reshoots and restructuring had to be done

Fuqua wanted to include them, but it was literally illegal for them to put that in the movie, and an MJ biopic that doesn't include them is gonna feel like an integral part is missing, it's not to argue that he's guilty or innocent, but it was absolutely one of the most consequential periods of his life, and the fact that the sequel won't even be able to address it is insane. At that point why bother? It's like that David Bowie biopic from a few years back that didn't get the rights to his songs, it just feels absurd to not address that considering the gigantic role it played in his life and public perception from the 1990s onwards, not to mention how it informed his music

I think addressing the allegations overall and how they affected his life is central but specifically the Jordan chandler ones ? Where if they did it kind of shows it was to some degree fabricated to get money ? It would make the chandlers look bad . Which is part of what goes against their settlement too . If I’m gathering right from what I’m reading

It's a good film humanising him during the most important part of his life while also acknowledging he was eccentric + isolated

Part 2 should be dark but it should be about the media turning on him leading to his death in contrast with part 1 being about them hyping up to be a star

A good representation of what every star goes through. They love you on your way up but once you get there they want to tear you down

They can do that with more than just the allegations too. Media made fun of him for his looks, plastic surgeries, disease

Part 1 got quite dark in places so it can definitely continue in a similar vein.

They can tell the story without focusing on 1993, it'll just be interesting to see how they decide to frame it.

Yeah there’s way more the media did than just the allegations to tear MJ down. Even made jokes about his Pepsi accident. 90s-2000s pop culture was brutal

Still need to watch this, maybe they did touch on media starting to turn on him
