I love this international s*** so I like it but the writing and edits are kinda eh. So many things that have little payoffs and just exist to set things up for later without being compelling at present. (What was the point of the new Yakuza recruit? lol. And Eimi's piece on women's murders that went nowhere).
First 2-3 episodes are the best and the difference between the pilot and the rest of the show becomes clear towards the end where in most sequences the various subplots are just randomly slapped together with no real rhyme or reason to their connection. Which is a common problem on shows so it's just boring.
Would have really liked to see Mann tackle material in the latter part of the series. But oh well.
And as discussed, very confusing emotionally as well. Sometimes couldnt tell if it was an acting issue or if Samantha's arc really was just written poorly.
Shot well but it's no Giri/Haji
Who else thought tozawa was gonna kill his girl before hopping on the jet
yeah i thought it was over for her.
Tozawa a massive piece of s*** even by organized crime boss standards lol
Decent finale I don't expect Sato to really be dead which if he is then it goes from decent to kinda s***ty
Just watched the premiere. S*** is intriguing to say the least.
Cinematography was
Mann needs to be involved in more projects god damn it
On episode 2 smh in a whole new country and he finds the one other white person to fall in love with

To be fair he is kind of getting shunned by the local populace in a xenophobic way

At his job yeah but there’s a whole country to explore. Plus with how Japanese culture fetishizes light complexions I find it hard to believe an American who speaks great Japanese will have a hard time finding a girl

I think he more honed in on her because he wanted someone to talk to that was going to remind him of home
also maybe he'd feel a big corny weeb trying to track down a Japanese girl right after all this effort to learn the language and culture.

Ofc the only two Japanese shorties he pulls up on are a prostitute and the yakuza’s concubine

F***in white girl problems ... whole show slaps but f*** her plot. Waste of time for me
Yeah Samantha’s plot was super annoying and the Japanese women characters are much more interesting. Eimi’s story deserves more

Dead ass I wanted more Emi plot.
And Jake actually listening to this dumb b**** samantha when she says "trust me" lmao...
Someone tell me what they’re referencing to in that Backstreet Boys song
He talking about getting pegged?
Yazuka get down like that?
Who else thought tozawa was gonna kill his girl before hopping on the jet
Spooky scene fr
On episode 2 smh in a whole new country and he finds the one other white person to fall in love with
Xenophobia crazy there
weak ass finale tbh how they just gonna ignore the opening scene of episode 1
It’s extra wack bc they marketed the show as a mini series if I remember correctly. The finale barely wrapped the plot threads up

tozawa showed more ass than all other girls combined so idk
