Why the hell does he need $170M to make a Heat sequel?

  • Aug 5, 2025

I mean I certainly don’t mind if it helps give Mann the budget that he wants, but if Leo is meant to play either McCauley or Hanna then that’s ridiculous. They’d have to de-age the f*** out of him

    Let Leo cook.

There's like 5 real movie stars left and we need every ounce of them.

I read the book and don't think Dicaprio would be better for Chris than Austin Butler or Neal than Adam Driver. That said, I get why Mann would go with Leo as a 200 million budget is what they'd need, It spans three or four countries and two different time periods. Also, the digital de-aging Mann has mentioned using isn't cheap or easy to do. This would be Mann's most ambitious film by a semi-wide margin if they follow the novel's plot.

The first Heat's budget was $60 million, but going from the film nerds on Reddit that translates to $130 million now adjusted to inflation.

Still.... Even with Leo, Mann hasn't had a box office hit since f***ing 2004. I hope it gets made, but I don't have my hopes up.

Yeah, but the budget was like $100 million. It was seen as a big disappointment, especially with Bale and Depp as the leads.
