In the closet is great
In the closet is great
it's like a banger but cloaked in the dead of night. total contradiction of a song. actually incredible. all that strange sound design too... inspired

That's why all the jumping for joy when the critics reviews for Michael came out was funny to me
I knew who'd have the last laugh
yeah this dolby atmos mix sucks, as expected. why the f*** did they bring his vocals all the way out to the front on even songs like 'in the closet' which completely misses the point of that entire track. the volume is off even when the backing vocals come in. the contrast between the hard hitting sounds, insane dynamics in this song, is all gone
mixing is part of the artistic expression too and the willingness to flout that for trends on the part of whoever greenlit this is... telling
Never understood why Liberian Girl always got the bottom of the stick. Song is so damn smooth.
It’s gotten more popular over the years for sure

Are the regular versions still available, or is it only the Dolby version?

i have his whole discog as lossless flacs but yes, you can still listen to the 320s on apple music by turning off dolby atmos in settings

Oh yeah. I never have that turned on. Made the songs sound weird.

So I recently came across his original master recordings - the way it was originally intended to be heard. But I don’t think I have the tech to play them🫥🫥🫥

"Bad" first pressing has shot up my want list after reading this
"The 1987 release features different mixes for "Bad", "The Way You Make Me Feel", "Smooth Criminal" and "Dirty Diana". Horns are inclueded in all but one chorous parts of Bad, TWYMMF got no ad-lips during the fade-out, Smooth Criminal got different bass sound and Dirty Diana features a longer fade-out with a hearable extended solo cut of Steve Stevens. Later releases were replaced with their single versions respectively."

Smooth Criminal intro is different too.
I Just Can't Stop should have the spoken word intro as well.
Always interesting to see how much these albums changed after release.
