A short motion picture spectacle that is both as invigorating and impressive as a Jaws/Star Wars/Raiders of the Lost Ark/ET/T2 level full length blockbuster
NO CAP

Absolutely captivated by this song right now. I’m not sure if it’s because it is unfinished but the sound is so raw and surreal and otherworldly. It sounds like a love theme from some high fantasy.
MJ really the goat bro
@KingOfPop - I’m interested to hear your thoughts on the Victory album.
I’ve always known about Torture and State of Shock, but today I gave the full album a listen and was pleasantly surprised - especially by Wait.
If promoted properly- this album could’ve been way bigger. Yeah, the politics behind the tour were a mess(especially them not performing any songs from this album), but I feel like they left a lot on the table with this album.

I think the band on the tour was one of the worst they used (certainly the worst band compared to any MJ solo tours), and the album lacks the real heavy hitters that the previous Jacksons albums had.
Triumph for example is way stronger, Destiny too.

If I had to rank The Jacksons albums
Triumph (actually better than Off The Wall IMO)
Destiny
Victory
The Jacksons
Goin Places

Man, Triumph is so so good. Off the Wall has higher highs for sure but Triumph is an incredible album.
The Jacksons albums don't get the credit they deserve for sure.

Jacksons > J5
As an adult, I really don’t like the kiddie songs like ABC, Rockin Robin, etc. Although, Who’s Loving You is probably their greatest ballad. Very underrated.
J5 music just sounds very dated to me. Not bad, but dated.
Jacksons music is more mature and fleshed out.

(No hate to you by the way fam, just chipping in to a nice discussion
)
I don't know if dated is the right term tbf
Rockin Robin was a 1958 song being covered by a 13 year old in 1972
I'd say 'of its time' is more appropriate
ABC came out in 1970 when the group was between ~11-18 years old, it feels of its time & appropriate
there was obviously lots of extremely adventurous and genre pushing music coming out
But there were also happy go lucky things coming out, simple & catchy makes sense for a young group fronted by a pre teen

Oh yeah - The music definitely suited them and the times.
I love the Motown sound (temptations, supremes, Marvin, etc). Parents had me grow up on it.
I just like songs like This Place Hotel,
State of Shock, can you feel it more than their early Motown stuff.
I will say that I Want You Back still goes lol
