LA Superior Court has strict hours, but in federal court, depending on judge, jurors can stay late if they think they can reach a verdict.
If a verdict is reached today, I'm assuming there will be extra sheriff's deputies in the courtroom and the typical regulations will be in place. Once verdict is read, gallery will be instructed to remain seated until the jury exits the courtroom.
Studies have shown that mistaken eyewitness testimony accounts for about half of all wrongful convictions. Researchers at Ohio State University examined hundreds of wrongful convictions and determined that roughly 52 percent of the errors resulted from eyewitness mistakes.
