the current zeitgeist of our symbolic, social environment /now/ is generally to believe women when they come forth with alleged abuse. this was initially kind of the case with heard before the trials. this sentiment is especially congruent to a court of law because jurors are not regimented by court-mandated principles or parlance like attorneys and judges are--they're people. so i think in cases of domestic abuse /today/ it works much more in favor of women due to the shift in sociocultural values over the past 5 or so years to be more reactionary and proactive about such claims
